Whilst the seller pictures the shoes in front of a Purple Label box, he does not show the box label.
Further, the sole of the shoes simply says "Ralph Lauren". The shoes themselves have no mention of "Purple Label" on them at all.
I wonder if the seller knows?

Which means they are RLPL. Just not the good RLPL.

I had seen enough decent reviews of the Italian Polo shoes that I thought my unfortunate experience with a pair of their boots might be a fluke. So I rolled the dice on the chelseas GVH has been offering. They arrived with a half-dollar-sized depression in the leather on one boot, like a hot iron had been put to it. Never seen anything like it. Looks like a sunken relief map of Australia.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice ...

I think they're the #911 model.

When Brooks marks a shoe to prevent returns, it marks a shoe to prevent returns.

Case in point is a pair of handsome brown Peal semibrogues in size 8.5 U.S. If these were my size, I'd bid on 'em.

No kidding.

Nice shoes though, wish they were a wee bit smaller.

Surprised they didn't go all out and accompany the marker scribble with "and no returns, FOREVER!"

I'm confused. I picked up some for $70 which I figured was a good price even if they're the made in Italy ones. Are they or are they not purple label? The box they came in (from the store) was purple but nowhere does it say purple label.

they're probably a good deal at $70. unless you were expecting the EG's, which you're not getting.

whether they're a good deal, depends on whether you would wear them or not. i wouldn't bother, as every picture I've seen of these made in italy shoes suggests they don't age well.

They don't look like the best quality but they filled a need I had which was a dark brown captoe that I can wear for interviews.

From what I have ssen here, they are nicer in last & finnish compared to AE. And you got them at a bargain price of 70$ id keep them!

what i've seen is that they look better than AE brand new, but worse after they've been worn.

Doc has noted that the two pairs he's gotten both had problems.

but $70 is indeed a bargain price.

As Andrew stated they are purple label, made in Italy. They are not purple label, made in England.

Polo RL is often made in Italy as well.
