I found very old leather valise while going through an estate sale this morning. So, I figured if there were any valise officianados to be found, this is the forum they'd be hanging around. The leather is quite nice, quite thick and in excellent condition, save a couple of stains. The stitching will need to be repaired in two places on the bottom (you'll see in one of the pictures). The hardware appears to be solid brass and all of the leather straps are intact. It is lined with what appears to be beige linen and has one zipped pocket that looks to be satin? lined. It measures 8 1/2"x18 1/2"x29", certainly large enough to carry suits. There are no tags or markings anywhere that I can find, so I'm looking for any information as to who the maker might have been or when it might have been made. I've included a few pictures below, click the smaller pictures to enlarge them. I'd appreciate it if anyone could share their knowledge or, even educated guesses on this.
