I wish I had more time to watch stuff. I'm waiting on House of Cards season 2, which I'll watch in a weekend so as not to get bogged down. Having a job that works with Federal agencies, I'm fascinated by it.

My wife and I used to sit down on Sunday nights and watch accumulated DVR stuff, but now, I'm downstairs packing shipments, re-listing stuff that didn't sell and re-organizing to accommodate the fluctuating inventory.

A comment on House of Cards....don't know who has watched and who hasn't, but this series is really pointing the way to what the future of content production and distribution is going to be. Major cast, terrific production, totally different process and constraints from the networks or even HBO. If they need a 87 minute episode, they do it. Post it all at one time for binge watchers and the subsequent buzz, tweets, and more.

Plus, they've done an unbelievable job of capturing the culture of the people. There was one episode where Kevin Spacey had to go home to his district in SC and confront an opponent. The scene was photographed from two points of view. Kevin Spacey standing in the yard talking to the guy on his porch, and the opponent sitting on his expansive porch talking to kevin spacey over the azaleas.

I paused the DVR and told my wife that that would never happen. She asked why? "Because in the south, if any visitor came to your house, particularly a US Congressman, you would never let them stand out in the yard unless it was a blood feud or they had impregnated your daughter. You'd invite them on the porch, offer them a glass of iced tea, and in the most polite terms imaginable, tell them they are horrible human beings who haven't been right since the eisenhower administration." She laughed. I restarted the show.....they finished their business and Kevin Spacey says "and if you were any kind of a gentleman, you'd have invited me up on your porch for a glass of tea."

Sorry for the off topic ramble, but I need to start sleeping more.......

Hey, you guys are quite welcome. I want you both to know that I made an 'extra' effort to make that first season memorable for you. You might enjoy this thread from a while back right here on styleforum!

I think that House Of Cards is quite possibly the best show this side of Dexter....

Out of the hundreds of pairs of shoes I've thrifted, these are the one's that have found a permanent home in my closet. All these have been thrifted by me except where noted. I also want to say, before I joined this fantastic community and started soaking in it's infinite wisdom, my only pair of "dress shoes" was a pair of BB suede bucs. Warning, lots of pictures in the spoiler.

Another poor soul who hasn't seen The Wire. (Although the early half of HOC is mad good.)

*This side of Dexter. Ah, fair enough. Well okay; crime isn't a big focus, but Treme also has that setting driving, environment focus style that David Simon is so excellent at. I guess I'm just becoming jaded towards character driven work, and forget about plot.

edit: no, lol, I won't double post spoilered

So, after 3 years of thrifting diligently in this stinking desert, I found my first Kiton.  Turns out it is NWT Kiton from Saks.  Unfortunately, it has paisleys on it... which probably explains why it still has tags on it.

Also found a couple more nice Charvet ties.

And a nice Cashmere Pringle sweater.

I don't think I've ever said this on here, but I seriously turned to my wife and said, "That's that guy from StyleForum."
