As expected, the flood of Jos. A Bank after the big sale last week. Wading thru that I was able to grab a few decent items.

Trio of RL Rugby vests, were unworn but I'll say "worn once". One seersucker cotton & two wool front / cotton lining & back.

Brooks Brothers Country Club. Yet another BB variation I was unaware of, and the colors on this one are beaut.

Got me some more T&A.

Spoo - real or not?

Same shirt - real or not?

This can't be real...had all sorts of Prada **** all over tho - tags and buttons etc. Bought it anyway...

Vintage Cricket argyle Shetland wool sweater vest.

Talbot's makes men's stuff? Apparently so...this 100% linen casual jacket.

As usual, I won't bother posting the other dozen Ralph Lauren, Brooks Brothers etc shirts I can't keep out of my cart.

Thinking I must be a rube to keep buying these vintage Harris Tweed jackets that I can now smell a half-rack away. 3 more this weekend. Guess I'll find out this autumn when I start posting to the bay-bay.

Left a pair of Allen Edmund's at GW - pretty scuffed tho it was the first time I really bothered to look at shoes so was surprised to see them at all.

Ok, so I'll try this again.

I'm been lurking for awhile. Another one of those help-pay-for-grad-school thrifters. I found these at a synagogue (bag) sale - much cheaper than SA - and I believe them to be custom made from Italy - primarily from the leather marks. They are double stitched soles, 5 eyelet, a haze/metallic gray color and have "Espressamente per Harrison" written on the inside - no other marks besides the Italian leather hide on the sole. Too small for me so I'm saving for my brother who may fit them. Any ideas on how to identify / who manufactured these shoes?

Wow, I find shoes to be the easiest section to look through...everything is wide open and you can quickly narrow the selection by eliminating most rubber soles and all square toes. Once you know what the sheen of good calf, shell, and other skins looks like it's so easy to smash and grab the good ones. If you make a habit of scanning the shoes as soon as you walk in when your senses and resolve at that store is fresh, you will be rewarded many times over.

+1

Shoes are my first spot and they're pretty easy to scan through. Also, the rewards can be very good for the time invested.

I only visit GW and other thrift shops and the ones around here never seem to have much by way of shoes...though only glanced in the past and never really spent any time (yeah, the limited men's shoe selection doesn't take much time I now realize). I think folks have their own favorite sections - mine is shirts, followed by sport coats and then maybe I'll check out the ties. Of course if it's a new place I look at just about everything.

You would be surprised to see what those BB country club shirts retail for. They can often be found at the outlet but they still want ridiculous prices for the stuff.

Quote: +1 I've switched up my rotation recently. Use to hit the suits first, now I hit shoes (fast), ties (fast as long as they arnt in those stupid tucked in metal grates
baldy[1].gif
then I just skip them all together) then suits, shirts and pants if I find a orphan otherwise just run my hand along the pants to see if there are any high quality wool. Shoes are best bang for you buck/time I have found.

This is one of those times that I'm glad that I have several pairs of black dress shoes from which to choose. Do you have any AE Park Avenues? They'd go well. if it's a daytime event, you might consider any oxford (Bal or Blucher) in walnut or chestnut for a more striking footwear presentation.
The tie will look awesome!
+1 black shoes for a wedding with a dark suit.

Quote: I have these also, just need to find more times to wear them.

Is this the thread where we post ebay messages? (45m after an auction ends)

Hi there,
I have just noticed that I made a mistake when entering my maximum bid value and entered 1,400 instead of 140.00 Euro and have been away the past few days only to return and see I won the auction but not an an agreeable price for myself considering the maximum amount I wished to bid for.
I have purchased products from yourself in the past and hope to again in the future but unfortunately must decline purchase of this one if possible as it extends my given budget and was an error/oversight on my behalf when I entered incorrect amount.
I hope you accept my apologies and reason for bid retraction.

LOL, maybe she will come over and you can help her try them on.

Update, the non bidding insulting ebayer wild1erica has sent 3 more emails to me calling me a douche bag again, addressed me as Dear Pigpen, and offered to sell me a pair of her old dirty socks. Finally I had enough and reported her to ebay and have altogether blocked her from contacting me. Hopefully her blog doesn't have a huge impact on anyone I would want to sell anything to. It was somewhat humorous, I felt like I was on an episode of punked or something.
