Those Oxxfords!    Those are the kind of hauls that get one hooked.

I've been wanting to do a thrift fit pic for a while now, but haven't really worn anything particularly worthy or MC-ish all since school's out for summer.  I did go to a wedding this afternoon, though, so I thought I'd take a couple of pics.

Suit - HF bespoke navy herringbone (eBay)
Shirt - CT tailored fit FC (one of those constant sales they have)
Links - MOP (didn't really come out in the pic - thrifted by me)
Tie - PRL (eBay - $4 shipped!)
Shoes - AE Mora dub monks (thrifted by me)

Nice fit and gorgeous tie, but I would not wear the watch with that.

Just a heads up to anyone in the SoCal area:

Might be having an informal SF/Thrifting meet up tomorrow...

So far have 3 or 4 people... Anyone is welcome!

Anyone else that's a part of this and knows where we're meeting up, drop me a message with the details... DM may currently be incommunicado.

I've been on the lookout for some good tweed for a while now (all I have is a pretty cruddy Stafford) and was kicking myself for not picking up a decent Norm Thompson made in England tweed yesterday... until I came across these...

Those last two are Pure Cashmere, btw.

Also found a Brooks Brothers Makers & Merchants shirt, in my size, with french cuffs. Normally I'd be pretty stoked about that, but today destroyed my normal expectations.

Thanks!  Care to thrift me a new one? :D

Hah! I wish I could find decent watches. The best thing I've ever found is a Hamilton for LL Bean, which is a good watch, but still far too casual to wear with that. I'm also a bit of a watch fanatic, so it'd be tough to get any watch out of my clutches...

One of my big pet peeves happened today:
I was on the suit rack, a fellow joined me and then decided to try on suits about 3 yards ahead of me. I tried to ignore him but did notice this guy was a douche trying on suit jackets waaaaay too small for him.
Is it not obvious that something will fit or not once you have it in your hands?
He was approx a 6' 3" fat guy, obviously sized upper 40's / lower 50's. Why he would try on small suits (appropriately placed in the small section) is absolutely beyond me .
However, now to one of my biggest pet peeves - the orphan jacket without pants!
The fellow (ascertaining that the two suit jackets did not fit) decided it was appropriate to take the pants.
Yup, the a$$hole took the damn pants to two pinstripe suits (a medium gray and a charcoal PS).
When I eventually get to the two jackets, imagine my anger and shock when the jacket labels were both Brioni. F**k this piece of sh*t, I went looking for him but he must have checked out. That thrift store do not adhere to the policy "if it aint tagged, no buy". They standardize their prices for all pants unless otherwise marked.

Owch!!

This is the other W&G shirt I left a few weeks back because it had a hole and some stains, but Nataku said i should pick it up anyway.  Was half off today so I picked it up.  The hole is really small and might be fixable and I'm pretty sure the stains will come out.  I hadn't noticed the shoulder patch until I saw it again this time.  Really heavy and interesting shirt.

Great finds there, Andro! That W&G is really cool - especially with the patch. Surprised it lasted till half off day! That would have been snatched in a New York minute around these parts. Hope you can get the stains out at least!

So I found this NIB today:

I wish... I did do a favor for a friend and pick up this new beauty for him since he had to go out of town and they were running a sale this weekend. I got the chance to audition some fantastic speakers. If anyone has $5k and wants the best value in speakers, get the Magnepan 3.7. They are ******* FANTASTIC!

Anyway, this took me 3.5 hours out of my way into otherwise ****** thrifting territory. Passed on an Oxxford orphan and D&G shirt, picked up this:

I did stop at a TJ Maxx and picked these up. Offering them here before they go on B&S for more tomorrow night. They won't be thrift prices, but will be near 75% off retail.

pnutpug, you'll appreciate these Crockett & Jones Peal for BB spectators I just won:

Yes, those are sweet. I'm still waiting for my Boadstreets from AE. When I went to lace them up for the first time a few weeks ago, found that a couple metal eyelets were missing on the inside, so I sent them back for exchange. Perhaps I am picky, but when I pay full price, I expect zero flaws.

Lastly, does anyone know anything about Diesel jeans? Are they worth anything? Picked this pair up for myself, and unfortunately the curse of the cyclists thighs strikes again. 34x34 and they're beautiful, with sort of a grey chambray look.

Not enough info on the Diesel jeans to make an educated decision I'm afraid. Diesel is probably one of the most knocked-off makes available and their recentish label-change seems to make counterfeiting even easier. Some models are very desirable, others aren't worth making into washcloths.

If you need more help, head over to Authentic Forum where they have a wealth of information and clued-up peeps who will authnticate.
