I know I asked this already, but what is the 'SSSSSSSSSS' logo on the navy blazer I picked up today? I've seen pictures of it on this thread before.

Thanks!

Did one of you gank those sharkskin Wartons from me on the Bay, or did I get had by a schmuck?

I was gonna say holy shit re: the York St. samples.  But Mainy...DAMN.

Marilyn Monroe? No tags. Anyone know anything about this?

These are pretty valuable. I still haven't found one yet. This and the Ben Silver are the only things I would have grabbed. Pass on the polyester next time.

Thanks. I had found that, but didn't read the last post since everyone was just conjecturing. Saw that the guy at the end validated it. Thanks again.

Don't believe I insinuated that anything I found was priceless or an amazing find. Excuse me for thinking you guys would have some class... And correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the title of this thread the Thrift Bragging Thread?

Few less of these and you wouldn't have to wear a size 50 ;)

Without a doubt the best one I got. Thought the others were interesting, had good variety and a good start to my collection. Sale at the GW so only spent $5 on the whole shebang.

Any idea the make? Looked around for a bit but couldn't find anything.

Thanks for the input, I'm aware the others weren't great but I literally had 3 ties in my drawer, they were on sale so couldn't resist adding some variety :)

Take it easy on the newbie! (Also nothing on the Gucci? That was the only other I assumed had any value) Thanks guys

If you read this thread all the way through you will notice a progression of thrifting prowess. When people first jump on they are just learning and start posting Polo and BB ties, which while fine ties are not very rare or exciting. You on the other hand picked up a bunch of polyester ties. Why? They are crap, even if you didn't own a single tie I still wouldn't buy them. If you go thrifting once or twice a week within a few months you could fill a drawer with good to great quality ties. For instance you found a Ben Silver tie, good brand, good quality stick it in your drawer and go again. Maybe you find a Brooks Brother tie, stick it in your drawer and go again. But Polyester is ugly, has no resale value and wouldn't be worn by any member of a forum entitled "Style Forum". Gucci doesn't get a lot of love here either, nor on eBay where you can see many of their ties selling for under $5 with free shipping. So I recommend you take all of those ties back except the Ben Silver, the Gucci if you want it for personal use, and that Peek-a-Boo tie.

Did not have the time to flip through all 5685 pages...

Mental note to self, no Polyester ties...

Don't know why I put the Brooks Brothers tie as Poly, but it is silk as well.

As I said, they were on sale, so I think 4 silk ties for $5 is pretty good... And we could say the polyester ones were free junk thrown in I suppose.

Thanks for the harsh honesty by the way, much more helpful than a gif of Evil Abed playing baseball ;)

The thing is, just because a tie is silk, it isn't necessarily good. t's just that polyester ties are always bad.
As for Brooks Brothers, I think they're perfectly good for wearing, so if you like the patterns, it's usually not a bad buy, especially not at $1.25.

A lot of us did take the time to read the thread. It's worth the read as you'll know what to pick up, and half the regulars won't block your posts (if you keep posting "good quality poly ties") so you'll get feedback on what you do pick up.

Lots of new members theze days. This reminds me of my super noob (still kinda noobish about stuff) days where I was taking pics of everything and asking "was this a good pass?":embar::uhoh:
