I guess I should add, whilst I know people on here won't be fighting over it, and some won't even know why it's worth posting - they go for $500-800 on eBay.

Wow - seriously? I need to check out my local TJ Maxx & Marshalls....

Yep. They originally retailed for $450 but were crazy popular and go for more than retail on eBay if NWT. One just sold yesterday in the same size I picked up for $600.

^ I've been seeing lots of high-dollar NSW at TJ Maxx lately, though nothing as desirable as that Olympic jacket. Nice find. I'm a big Nike fan and wish cool Nike stuff popped up more here.

Do you guys flip this stuff on ebay?

If thrifted:  The majority, but not all, ends up on eBay.   I keep about 20% for myself off the top.  List the rest on eBay; whatever doesn't sell after a variety of listings (BIN, BIN/OBO, Auction) gets redonated or I keep a few select items in my size.  Works out to be: I get my stuff for free, make some profit, and the redonated stuff I get a receipt for since I'm over "the limit" on PayPal sales and will have to file with the IRS.  Not killing it like some guys but worth it in the end.  If you want to chat up flipping / eBay more, there's a thread for that.

very hit or miss for me on shoes, but today was a partial hit. These are all as they were in 2 GW's. The first two were sitting beside a pair of decent cole haan kiltie loafers for $29. Down here in NC, GW pricers think that Bass Weejuns and Cole Haan are the nicest shoes out there. These were $3.53 each. The 2 on the right were $6 Each.

The penny's are at least 30 years old but the uppers are in terrific shape. The Church's are in great condition as well and are just a half size to big for me. The AEs were part of 3 I actually picked up, which included a winthrop driver and a Berkshire casual lace up. The last are PRL "Benchmade in Maine", which I think are made by Rancourt, but not sure.

First church's I've ever seen (not just thrifting, anywhere) and the pics are how they were on the shelf.

Thrifted furniture brag.

I'm broke as a joke right now but still could not pass these up for my downstairs family room. Picked up both pieces for a song. The chair still has the arm rest covers still sealed in the plastic under the seat cushion. Down filled cushions. Both in excellent shape. Both by Lillian August. Had no clue about the maker but could tell they were quality. Looked up retail price online and it looks like I did very well. A comparable sofa retails at $4,000. Comparable chair retails at $2,300.

Don't forget the freezer trick--bed bugs, you know.

So many good finds lately, too many to name.

Well, that's quite the honor with what is constantly posted on this thread.  I never cease to be amazed.

That was my initial thought when I found the first set of ties so of course I facebook styleforum stalked to see if I could find anyone in Wichita. Nothin'. To whoever donated all of these: thank you :fonz:

Since I'm probably at least partially responsible for sending you over here from WAYWRN, I feel I should chime in. It was a bit of an obvious question, but Spoo's reaction is likely as much to do with the fact that this is a MAJOR perennial debate in these parts. Plenty of folks buy exclusively for themselves or to trade, and not to profit. Others fall on the capitalistic side of things. And most of us fall somewhere in the middle -- trading and hooking thread members up when we can, keeping what we can justify and selling the rest to create a slush fund to facilitate our addiction habit hobby.
