I had made a post about the GW $1,100 Canali suits prior to reading the responses subsequent to the OP on it....hence the fail comment.

Ok, so about 90 transactions in I got my first neg. feedback. The thing that pisses me off is that the guy NEVER contacted me, and waited until he had the item for 17 DAYS before leaving feedback (not 17 days after sale, 17 days after delivery). Didn't respond to my message after seeing feedback either. WTF is up with this? If the item wasn't satisfactory I would've refunded money, but obviously he thinks its a good enough value to keep...

i think there is a disconnect between the severity sellers and buyers consider negative feedbacks to be

eBay should revoke feedback rights from a buyer if he leaves over say 50% negative feedbacks after a moderate sample size, or at least make them count less to the overall feedback score

So I am back in NYC for school and I've been making the rounds to the thrift shops by me. Dear jesus they are expensive, I am doing it wrong. Found a really nice sz44 Spurr suit, probably could have found a great home for it on here, if it wasn't $150, housing works prices are quite steep (though I know it is for a good cause and all). Then found a really cool Lanvin blazer (it had a bunch of silver label stuff on it IIRC, I am new to the high-end tailored menswear game, but I don't think it was a diffusion line), but it was really oddly cut, fit me in the shoulders, massive at the waist (though could have been taken in just fine) but the sleeves were honestly about 4+in short, it looked hilarious. I hate being such a stupid lanky size (proper jacket size is probably a slim cut 38L, I'm ~6'2, 149 pounds) making thrifting for clothes that actually fit my a right pain ***********. Grumble, grumble, grumble....

Right now I'm using an extension for a paint roller I spray painted black. Fastens in quite well. Need to come up with some kind of base though.

I saw only one noteworthy thing out there today: a shirt with a label that looked like two "P"s with a crown above them and below in script: "Napoli" Fat MOP buttons. Would have picked it up except the neck was a bit thrashed and there was a monogram on the chest. Anyone know what maker this might be?

Right now I'm using an extension for a paint roller I spray painted black. Fastens in quite well. Need to come up with some kind of base though.

I struggled with this too. Early experiment of a golf bag with a towel wrapped around it went awry. Then, my 5 year old solved it: "Daddy, Manny keeps falling off your golf bag," quoth she, referring to He Who Is Called "Manny Ken." She continued: "Why don't you just put it on top of the kitchen bar stool?" Problem solved. The stool hardly makes it into the shot, but when it does, it's pretty unobtrustive. See pics. The harder problem for me is where to take my shots. No room in my new house gets ample natural light. So I've resorted to outdoors. I like that less than my old setup, but it'll have to do. Thoughts welcome. (New Setup, note how barstool is hardly visible) (Old setup, again, note how barstool is not a distraction)

I finally reunited these two! Full canvas, very modern cut, very short jacket, and very slim but fits me wonderfully on the shoulders, and the sleeves length on dead on! It just needs to be dry cleaned and have the pants hemmed then I'm mint!


Fits me like a glove! N/A Planning to wear it to my boy's wedding in October.

BB heavy wool pants. Made in US. Size 34 fits me well. I'm thinking about keeping these...

^^^ Mannequins fo' sho'. I don't think a real person would put up with me fiddling with composition. Stanley Kubrick I am not.

Then again, maybe modelling would work better than a mannequin.

Zegna Silk and Cashmere SC; double-vented

Heh, I grabbed an almost identical Zegna SC a couple of weeks ago. Great haul overall, but you've been doing this longer than me so you hardly need to hear me say it.

I've pretty much quit, and have been working on music/school/life instead.

Broke down today and hit two stores:

Perhaps the flame didn't burn for long, but goddamn did it burn bright. Enjoy real life again.

My mistake. I read that both Canali and Corneliani made suits and SCs for Polo. Since I have a Blue Polo and a few Canali, I compared the tags. They were almost identical. Since I don't currently have a Corneliani and don't remember what their tags look like, I just assumed it was made by Canali.

I also read this... just now actually, while looking at PTO's brand guide for an unrelated matter. Was going to post a WTF here about that... and since it wasn't answered, WTF?

It also lists Corneliani Trend and CC as being "extremely excellent"... really? I thought they were diffusion lines and not quite up to snuff. Never handled either as I've only seen them at department stores, where the price immediately turned me off.

Nice jacket and nice haul. You're definitely stepping up your game. But if you haven't already, you should maybe read through (roughly) posts 250,000 - 37,000, a section of this thread I like to call, "DM7 and the Demon of Thrifting Madness."


Oh yeah, I did some thrifting today. Four stores, and all I got was one lousy Isaia suit.

Could have had a crazy haul if I was at a thrift store rather than a consignment shop. But it was my first experience at a consignment store and it was pretty rad. I am talking two racks full of sulka and EZ shirts, a rack full of NWT Ted Baker SCs. 6 pairs of ferragamos, 2 pairs of NWT Giorgio Armani split toes+. A rack full of rag and bone and NWT Barbour shirts. I could go on and on and on, it was pretty crazy. Reasonable prices if I were purchasing for myself, not enough meat on the bone to flip. I did find a tie for me though...

Hey man, thanks for the words of encouragements. When I first started thrifting, I was picking up stuff that was ok due to fear of not getting better stuff. Now that I've gotten some good stuff, I won't be picking up boarder line crap anymore. lol

He also named Canali Proposta as being extremely excellent. I was like

I bought the Prada orphan slacks 2 days ago. I finally was able to find the jacket today. It was tucked away between some crappy stuff. I can see how I've missed them giving the tag and the letters are black on black. That's another reason whey they priced the jacket at super cheap prices. It was too dark for them to see. My gain! So it's a very modernly cut 2 piece Prada Milano. I know it's not their best stuff but it has a great hand and full canvassed. Fits me like a freak'n glove. The D&G I picked up was too sweet. It has pick stitches all the way down to the hem! Winning!
