RB is, was, perhaps the most famous TJ client:

http://gawker.com/5578332/rod-blagojevich-retail-addict-blows-400k-on-clothes

An excerpt from a story on the Blagojevich's spending that ran on Fox:

Next to their mortgage payments — $392,000 — their second-biggest payment from 2002 to nearly the end of 2008 was $205,000 on custom-made clothes from Tom James/Oxxford, Schindler said.

If you had $200K to spend on clothes, would you go to TJ?

As for 38R...

Banana Republic actually has a Mad Men label? A new low, even for those guys. No offense, but that jacket is hideous. Darts and madras don't do well together--you'd think if they were going to use the term MM, they'd at least make it a sack. And the madras is mismatched--the lines don't come close to meeting up on the pocket flaps. And are those shoulder pads or is the jacket just happy to see you? Probably looked a lot better last night than it will when you get up this morning...

I think he was buying Oxxford, which is part of the TJ family of businesses, so the quality is there. Not a bad choice if you want high end American Trad.

Plus it's all made right here in Chicago so he can make claims about "stimulating the local economy."

Couple things I've picked up over the last few weeks.
Japanese silk square with some of the tightest hand-rolling I've yet seen.

Vintage flecked wool shawl collar cardigan for my wife. Made in Minnesota.

I'm pretty sure this isn't the Pucci I'm looking for, but at $1.90, I thought I'd snag it anyways.

I grabbed this because my wife asked me to be on the lookout for a nice down jacket for her. It seemed nice and the price was right.

When I got home and did some research,
I found out it was this jacket, minus the fur hood, which my wife didn't want anyway.

I don't think it's really a thing, but a 100% wool shawl collar cardigan, made in the USA and my wife's size? Automatic pickup.

Wasn't Ken Lay of Enron also a Tom James brand whore?

Horses Ass hooked me up with a Tom James suit and it's as nice as any I have.

Nice find! This is a line by Bogner and is pretty recent. I always eye the Fire + Ice men's stuff when in the local high-end Euro outdoor wear boutique. That jacket originally cost north of $500.

The Pucci isn't Emilio Pucci but is still good IIRC. I think Spoo knew a little more about them.

Those Lee jackets are cool!

I got caught up with the GFs family in Houston so I couldn't thrift as much of it as I liked. Found some good ties, but otherwise I was a little let-down, but I didn't really visit into downtown or some of the richer areas. Next time I'll be sure not to have obligations so I can thrift as much of Houston as possible.

I found a way fab Winona Knits shawl sweater for men a few weeks back. Posted it in the AAAC exchange and got no interest, but I think it's killer. I may just keep it for myself...
