Having spent about 3 hours reading 100 or so pages of this thread last night - it inspired me to go hunting for the first time
I live in Toronto but currently spending time with my wifes family in North Bay, ON - so heading down to their Value Village. 99.9% of the store was complete tat, but the one diamond (relatively speaking) in the rough was a vintage Yves Saint Laurent Tuxedo Jacket for $14.99 that fit me perfectly. Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
As I was headed to the cash register I also found a mid century modern coffee table that whilst needed some TLC, was $6.99. I went back later in the day with my wife and snapped it up as a new 'project' for her
Finally I found a few pairs of some long Zenga socks in Winners for $3 per pair (said retail was $20) but I didn't buy as I am not a fan of knee length socks.
All in all, a good first attempt!
Welcome to the thrifters flippers board. Toronto is home to one of the epic thrifters, so we know there are gems. Be careful on YSL since only some types are worthy of buying. As an introduction consider joining the scavenger hunt for charity, that should get you to stores enough times that you can find good stuff for yourself.
