e-thrift...

This was in my inbox this morning after the seller accepted my almost rudely low lowball offer. Pics on arrival.

When all fails, you can use rubbing alcohol to clean it. I've gotten stains out of suede before but it left the leather kinda sorry...

This. Step one, use a clothes brush and see if you can brush the stain out. Step two, blot the stain with rubbing alcohol. This works more often than not for me.

I'm about to go down to the local drugstore and buy a box of alcohol pads so I can do better stain checking in the field.

Still working on getting pictures up from what I brought home, but I had a package waiting for me when I returned. Not a thrift, but I felt that I got a great deal on it.

:wow:  I would love to know how long these last, if much longer than the standard 10 - 20$ umbrella.

I can assume that they last longer based on everything that I've read. I've wanted one from Swaine Adeney Brigg for quite awhile. I've handled some incredibly well-made umbrellas in various shops and you can feel the weight difference immediately between them and their "normal" counterparts. They open smoothe and are pretty taut when you lock them open. Like anything, you can surpass the value:cost ratio and then you're just in it for luxury.

I hope not, though I'm worried I will. shog[1].gif Cost? Let's just say it's probably more than I should have spent on something like an umbrella, especially since it got hit with customs duties...

Upthread: wait, there is a stain removal thread??? cool! anyone got a link?

I agree with Dig on this thread being a toe in to actual style for folks whose original inclination is thrift. I lurked here a couple years, then started posting, including fit pics. I fancied myself a decent dresser. At Digs, Spoo's, and others' urging, i gradually expanded to waywrn and other places on sf. Personally, I think I dress MUCH better overall now. And few have been a bigger advocate of the ecosystem and melting pot of this thread than me. I'm happy to overlook downlevel stuff if folks are really excited about it, and apologize to PointD if I was rude in that respect. But whoever said that outright classified ads are a bridge too far I think hit the nail on the head.

Anyway. My two cents.

Until I clicked on the spoiler tag, I thought someone had finally thrifted me an awesome cane! I don't need one anymore, but for Hermes I might have been tempted to cater to the remaining twinges. (I really should be better about continuing my PT exercises shog[1].gif)
