Canali wool/cashmere
Charvet I think; tags were missing when I bought it.
Brooks, wool/cashmere
Square unknown
Trafalgar
Orvis
Panthy
WOLVERINE!
.

Very nice, sir. Great subtle pattern on the pants, and is that a slight taper I see? (Or am I just getting my hopes up?)

Also, never feel bad about grinding up the new soles of shoes.

I think the issue is that you keep posting things here for sale. I'm new as well, so maybe I'm speaking out of turn, but the impression I get is that this thread is for thrift finds, and, maybe, trading thrift finds, but you should never offer to sell anything in this thread. There are other threads specifically for that purpose. This is my guess, PD. And I've been reprimanded for asking questions that I thought were pretty close to being on topic as well.

** I may be out of line with I say that you "keep posting things here for sale". I don't know that you've done it more than once, but I do know that the internet, and particularly forums are unforgiving mistresses.

Guys, if something is for sale, just write 'available' beside the find, and do your dirty business in private. It's worked for years. It will work for you too.

Two things tonight. Only one for keeping though.

I was excited by the selvedge but I can't find and info about it and it seems to be a pair of franken pants (see the Levi's buttons on the fly). They're going back but at least I've checked selvedge off my scavenger hunt list.

1970s shawl collar cardigan in kelly green. Up here in Canada these were also called curling sweaters and this one actually has a curling rock and two crossed brooms embossed on each button. It comes with a great team/sponsor patch on the back. Anyone know anyone called Neil Brown? This would make a great holiday gift!

100% kiton.

So safe to assume price tags mean dick as far as determining manufacturer where Marshall's is involved? I just checked and the tags on the Charvets are identical formatting, priced at $225 each.

The tag is from Wilkes Bashford.

Everyone is getting all butt-hurt about the proper things to bring up in this thread when most of the stuff mentioned in here should be in a different thread. The Fit pics go in the WAYWT, the questions about how to clean something go in the STAIN REMOVAL GUIDE, a question about something that needs to be tailored can go in the THE SECOND TAILORS' THREAD: TECHNICAL TUTORIALS, questions about Labels, I believe Brianapore made a thread to help everyone (stand up guy). There are Appreciation threads for everything you can think of.

The point I am trying to make is this thread should be ONLY thrift bragging/pics bragging (like the title states), OR have it like it is. Trust me I am sick and tired of seeing all the macy brands, vintage christian dior ties, etc but I feel like if someone is proud of the crap they buy then they are allowed to show it.

Just a Senior Member's two cents. nod[1].gif

That's beautiful. Even if your name's not Neil.

Recently picked up a big stash from a guy who apparently loved shopping at Bernini Beverly Hills.  All of the stuff is way too small for me (38 / 34), but scored a number of Brioni, Canali, Versace and other items.  Pictures soon.

One item has me puzzled for a couple of reasons.

1) Who makes for Bernini Couture in Napoli?  Most beautiful cashmere sportcoat...

Didn't see this tag in the other thread

2) For some stupid reason, on this coat, they have a super sticky security device on the lining here.  I'm going to attempt to steam it off and hope that the lining isn't forever ruined.  Other thoughts as to removal?

Thanks!

I'll take the rap for suggesting fit pics in this thread. I had two purposes in mind when I did.
  1. Since the Thrift thread is mostly comprised of a small but fairly consistent community of regulars, it's a friendly place to get comfortable posting fit pics with the proviso that one is wearing thrifted clothing. We're kind of like the minor league, prepping people to step up to the bigs like WAYWRN.
  2. Page after page of pants limply laid out on the bed or sport coats hanging on the back of the bathroom door are suddenly brought to life when someone puts that Canali sport coat on and knots up that Hermes tie. It's nice to see the clothes in action.
Since the fit pics feature thrifted clothing, they're in keeping with the OP premise of making it a bit of a brag. YMMV.

Hey Spoo? These can't be real.

I'm not sure of the exact date, but my dad used to have one similar to that which I think was from the late 60s/early 70s. He picked it up while he was studying geology in college in the mid-late 70s.
