That's a goddam nice looking jacket.  Upgrade from coach to business class JFK to Berlin on that jacket.

Only got to hit one place today..

Found my first Salvatore Ferragamo shirt (Medium).  I've found a number of ties and shoes, but never anything else.

And then I also found this.  Never heard of Gerlin before, but I like it.  Buttons are quite cool -- refractive looking MOP?  Ebay prices are rather hefty.  Need to read up on it.

Hit a couple places today and picked up a couple good things.

Thick as thieves blazer n/a
MTM blazer with micron Loro Piana fabric for myself
Cloak Shirt with interesting details. Slim XL Available
Our Legacy linen shirt that I'm pretty sure is new. XL Available.
Left behind so much stuff though... So many crazy SWD brands, too bad they knew what they had...

Pics later

Best I can figure is that the company was primarily known for making clothing and costumes for Hollywood Studios. This piece seems to be of pretty much top-notch construction, though it appears to have been made for someone rather small. If it was indeed made in December of 1944, it's by far the oldest piece of clothing I've thrifted, and it is in amazing condition given that it's 69 years old.

wonderful thread. i've gone through about ~300 pages, though it seems to be endless.

how often do you guys buy shirts with stains/marks on them? if you do, how do you get them out? i've mostly left shirts behind that looked like they were stained, but i grabbed a marked shirt recently just to see if it would come out in a wash and to my surprise, it did.

i left this behind, because of the damage. where do you guys draw the line on damage? would someone be interested in a jacket like this? it looked dated, but i'm still learning.

And you're thinking, who the hell cares? Don't most N&F jeans retail for <$150?  Paying $80 isn't really bragworthy or anything...

Except that they're actually these: http://blog.needsupply.com/2009/03/14/the-most-expensive-jeans-in-the-world/

Gator/Croc leather patch? Or something else? Someone here probably knows. Weird thing is they're not signed like it says in that link although every other detail lines up exactly with this SF sale a few years ago. Could be some sample or something. I'm not sure. I emailed N&F about it but they haven't responded yet. Anyway, they fit perfect which annoys me because I kind of want to sell them to some SuFu user to fund some other clothing purchases since I already have some N&F raws I've been trying to break in.

I will see your Kiton and raise you 100% cashmere Kiton, check plaid, dual vent, 3/2 roll.  First Kiton for me.  Sleeves are a hair short, or it would end up in the closet.  Plus, I'm raising mad money for my annual Germany visit, doing Oktoberfest in Munich for the first time this year!  This'll buy a lot of beer.

Another first, 7,9? fold.  I couldn't figure out how to count the folds.  Tie weighs in at 3.5oz, easily the heaviest tie I've ever handled.  From the RN it was made by PVH which owns Tommy Hilfiger, CK and izod/van husen/bass/arrow.  :(

Wow, you pros already probably knew this, but all these are owned by PVH:

Any collectors of toys?

I found a set of Army GI's from 1965, made by Monogram. Given how I treated my army figures when I was a youngun', I'm surprised at the condition of these. For the most part, they are in very good shape. One appears to have an "amputation", but otherwise damn good. The set has been painted...

Kind of a cool blast from the past, and they seem to actually be a somewhat desirable collector's item.

Welcome. You've already taken the initiative to begin reading, so thanks very much for that.

Answering your first question, for shirts, most of us use this method, referred to here simply as "The Method." http://putthison.com/post/441812762/cleaningshirts
I am in the process of experimenting to find a similar method for cleaning the lining on wool trou without damaging the wool. I have several permutations, and simply not enough time at the moment to run the actual experiment. Stay tuned.

As to the Brioni, most holes can be rewoven. But that's not cheap, and you need a specialized service. (Fabric Reweavers USA is one such service. There's one in LA, too). A hole in that area, right next to the faux button hole, will be particularly troublesome. Also, if that's a solid gray or pinstripe jacket with no pants (aka, an orphan), it's almost certainly not worth it.

Thanks again for doing your homework.
