I know a little bit about the subject, and I'm only trying to help you. If someone posts a piece-o-**** suit/jacket/tie here, folks with knowledge speak up. This is no different, so far as I can see. You don't know much about bikes, you bought a bike, you posted it here and now you're getting snarky when someone who knows about bikes tells you that your Huffy has no clothes.

You're not going to lose any money because you didn't pay much. But if you've really been looking for a bike and you settle on that thing, you're making a big mistake.

The way you were talking, the Huffy should be destroyed. So I figured that burning it is better than passing it off on someone else who knows nothing about bikes.

Vintage hunting jacket, rubber game pouch, shotgun shell holders in the pockets, dated 1977. I sold a very similar jacket on ebay a couple months ago for $500!!

Nice! Those bad boys were made here. I check the glasses bins every time keeping an eye out. My wife has a couple of vintage made in Austria sunglasses that are likely the same maker but unbranded. Unbranded = no value, Carrera = €+£+$

Also, those 14k buttons are something else, congrats! I'm sure everyone is now thinking the same thing...time to add "checking buttons" to the list of things to look for at the shops.

What the What? How did you do that?

I had it posted with a 9.99 start price, no buy it now option and no bid's on it. A couple hours after I posted it, a guy sends me an email saying he wants to buy it and he'll pay me $500. I did it, totally thinking it was a scam. This was about 5 months ago. I got the cash and never heard from again. The thing had holes and spots that had been repaired and everything. I kept the nice one, go figure.

I stopped by a store on the way home for about 10 minutes and found nothing on the men's side, but found two pairs of Bruno Maglis on the women's side. Nice condition, newish.

Eazy's glasses reminded me I bought a pair yesterday. I generally stay away from anything in which I don't know the tell-tale signs of a fake pair, but I bought these on impulse at .50. I sincerely doubt they're real and therefore I have no plans to list them on eBay, but I'd wear them if they're real. Fake glasses cna be genuinely dangerous, so I checked out a few sites but I'm still a bit unsure. Can anyone give me sure-fire way to find whether they're fake, or by the off chance, real?

Spoiler: But, you may ask, why is this EPIC?

Looking at the buttons, they looked kinda like  plastic and I thought I could replace them with horn, but upon further inspection:



14K GOLD BUTTONS!!!!!

Their marked Lindsay 14K on one end and 14K on the other. A little sleuthing turned up Lindsay & Co. of New York http://lindsayco.com/ and their on line catalog. There are matching cuff links on page 20, but the buttons are on page 32. Called the company and the sales rep said that the buttons are solid 14K gold (have 2 jacket and 4 cuff buttons) and the retail replacement cost for the jacket buttons at a jeweler is around $700-$1000 each and the cuff buttons about $400-$500 each.


For some reason I don't think the buttons are gonna stay on the jacket! Will have to consult the wise one, SPOO, and see if the "clothing" value of the jacket with gold buttons would be worth more than the value of the buttons.

Not surprised there are vintage gaming enthusiasts, particularly those that grew up in the 80's and 90's.
Never heard of that guy, who is he?

His name is James Rolfe, a native of NJ. He was a film student. He started making NES games review on youtube under the name of Angry Nintendo Nerd just to express his frustration towards crappy NES games and it was a hit. Nintendo contacted him about not getting permission to use their brand. So he changed his name into The Angry Video Game Nerd and did tons of game reviews on multiple game platforms. He now has his own production company and I think he edit films for a living.

Anybody have a set of horn buttons?

Looking at the sleeves, it did have three cuff buttons at one time.

Also, in the pocket was a receipt from another thrift store from 1990 something for $6. Somebody bought this at a thrift in the 90's and then re-donated to Goodwill...

Picked up these AE's, their a loose 10D but can't find which model number, pretty decent shape, scuff on toe should buff out, trade for horn buttons:

NWT Polo jacket. Unstructured, tweed like in appearance, 100% cotton.

Old school BB tux. Beautiful.

LP 70% cashmere 30% silk L/S polo sweater.

Yohji Yammamoto DB belted trench. I think this is a current model.

Mitsumine buttondown shirt. Slim 39 (made for the Japanese market). Laundry pen under the tag but other than that seems NWOT. Unlike the above, this is available.

No worries then. Think of it as a Robert Graham shirt.

FWIW, I just flipped a Trek hybrid I found at GW for $50. Sold it for $140. The guy who bought it knew nothing about bikes, just showed up, handed me the cash, then asked me how to take the wheels off so he could get it in his car. Didn't even take a test ride. It was a fair, not spectacular, price for the bike, but folks like that are just begging to get ripped off, and there are plenty of people who will oblige.
