Another question, what thrifted item have you worn the most? For me, besides some shoes and shirts, it's this vintage tweed blazer, one of the first that I picked up when getting into the thrifting game. The thing fit perfectly, right off the rack.

To continue the outerwear theme: This mint Ben Silver tweed polo coat ($20) is one of my favorite finds. Gifted to a buddy.

It's tough to choose one though. The runner-up is probably a 1950s Brooks Brothers tuxedo in my size. Lately I'm more excited by the true vintage stuff, even by unknown makers, than by the ten-year-old high-dollar stuff.

Brooks Brothers hopsack navy blazer, triple patch pockets. Not my most exciting find, but I wear it once or twice a week.

Next to a Mandelli quilted jacket, this is my dream piece of outerwear.

I found a couple of pieces of fairly recent Polo Golf in size Small today, I've been checking the light jacket rack and the sweater rack at the new Savers near work to find lightweight outerwear to pack into my various 'emergency clothes kits' that I'll be stashing in each car. Today at lunch, I found the very similar predecessor of this navy 100% polyester golf shirt/jacket. They priced it at $7.99, the going rate for all the jackets but there was what appeared to be a piece of candy (looked like a melted caramel) stuck to the hem as if someone had sat in it. At the cashier, I asked if they adjusted prices for things like that and she immediately called for a manager who showed up, took one look and asked if $2.99 was acceptable. I looked doubtful for a nanosecond and then said, "Sure!". I know a 'treatment' to get the food off. nod[1].gif

It has an ingenious sack pack for self storage built into the back. cool.gif

I also picked up the Polo Golf 60% cotton/40% poly pull over quarter zip fleece top for $8 just because I could. happy.gif

Oh yeah, they had an argyle L.L. Bean made in Ireland wool sweater vest in Small for $3. I took all three today for less than $16. Nothing picworthy but I'm quite happy.

favorite find?

hard choice,  either my Brioni Blue pinstripe150's.  paid $25. in this old thrift fit.

700

(yes the tie is bad) i have nicer ties.shog[1].gif

or a yellow cashmere sweater. forgot the price.

Most worn?  this old thing. 55 years on and still works perfectly.  it has made my other watches obsolete.

I really love the Patina, and the styling is subtle. this gets worn 5 days a week.icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Things I've worn the most? ACNE raw max denim, RL by C&J suede longwings, and a polo suede fireman toggle bomber.

They appear to be sized 9 ee, which I am very sorry to say, is nowhere near my size. So, since I don't envision opening a shoe museum, that means I'll be flipping them.

By the way, you referenced the Lobb's value. Any idea what retail would be on these?

Chet, that coat's absolutely gorgeous.

I'm speechless about some(most) of these deals. I thought picking up a nearly new pair of Ferragamo studio line cap toe balmorals on ebay for $85 shipped was a deal.

Welcome to the thrift thread.... where items are 99% off retail 95% of the time.

Not to start a war but be careful with the Ferragamo Studio line (glued)... had 2 pairs fall apart on me.... construction is subpar IMO

Thanks for the welcome Brianpore.

I did know that the shoes were likely glued up before I bought them, but given my need for formal black shoes is infrequent, I think they will do just fine. It is a shame about the soles because the leather is quite nice.
