The official thrift/discount store bragging thread - Page 4988

Am I posting my grabs in the wrong place?  Here, I post "brags", which - granted - may or may not be all that brag-worthy...but if I have something for sale, I post it in the "what i'm selling on ebay" or "marketplace" or "buy & sell" threads.

Why do folks keep asking for deets / sizes / if something is available for purchase?  Enlighten me.

Deets on the Chimay you posted earlier?  Is it available?

I guess it was bound to happen.
Someone please tell me that Superdry is not actually a super-in-demand SWD item!

Superdry is popular with the Asians in San Francisco.

If you don't want people bothering you, just say "not available" or "unavailable" or "headed to ebay" or whatever.  It's just a few extra characters, and a simple fix.

Most people assume that the majority of the stuff you brag about is not going to be fitting so they might want to trade you, buy from you, etc. As Mr.C said just put unavailable if you don't want to be bothered

I was heading out of town yesterday to a second hand book market, so I only had time to hit one store.

Some ties: L-R Ferragamo, Zegna, Talbott BOC.

Church's handmade bit loafers, size 11.5N. Not seen this logo before; they are Made in Italy (not UK) for Beverley Hills. I'm a 10.5EUK ind these are a tad small on me for length and width, so I assume they are US size.

Ferragamo leather shearling raincoat, size EU54. Shell is synthetic/cotton blend. Looks unworn, and i think the buttons are horn. (i.e. they feel cold to the touch. Mind you, it is winter here - everything feels cold. smile.gif )

Did OK at the book sale too, but nothing brag-worthy.

So there were some interesting items yesterday among the otherwise slim pickings at the Brooks Brothers Clearance Center in Garland, NC. Most notably, quite a few jackets by Mariano Rubinacci. See pictures below (including one that also included the Taylor Richards & Conger label, a small shop in Charlotte, NC). So my question is, what were these doing at the BBCC? My assumption must be that the same Italian factory that makes some of the BB line also makes Rubinacci RTW? Anyone have any insights?

If you are going to attempt to return I think a slightly less atrocious thing I do would be return for store credit

A new "Plato's Closet" opened up nearby and I stopped in to see what they had. The blog linked below pretty much nailed my experience.

Plato's Closet Exposed! Clothing Consignment Store Reviewed

However...

I came across a pair of Urban Outfitters / Hawkings Mcgill (I never saw the brand before and was intrigued) stretch "tailored fit" men's chinos that I just HAD to try on. 7" openings on the legs meant that they fit me like a pair of leotards. lol8[1].gif I'da bought them but they wanted $16 and SWMBO prolly wouldn't be seen in public with me wearing them. plain.gif

A pic I googled to sort of represent but mine were ...tighter.

Yeah these are a mere $200 retail.

Having an iPhone has been a revelation for me in thrifting pretty much because of items like this - there are so many obscure Japanese brands floating around that being able too know what it is I'm looking at has allowed me to pick up some stuff I would have passed on previously.
