The Perils of Thrifting

There's a beautiful cashmere Caruso coat for sale near me at a reasonable price.  However, I know it's been in the store for 2 years, should this necessarily be an issue ??, the coat otherwise looks fine

This should be an issue for them as you can haggle it down. "do you want to keep it for another 2 years, or sell the bastard?"

Here are a variety of older Brionis, some thrifted, some not. As you can hopefully see, they're all pretty different.

EDIT -- Actually, all of those were thrifted. BUT I did compare them to some of my family's older ties (who knew!) and found a genuine counterpart to each.

If there's no condition issue, the price is right, and it fits you, go for it.

Yip, those are the ones I had. I think KP is in doubt because it had the double Brioni printed under the fold. I've never seen it like that either. puzzled.gif

Just read through about 20 pages that I missed while on vacation the last 9 days and getting a strong urge to go out ASAP. Spent time in Wisconsin and Chicago and did very little thrifting but did do this...

Some more finds from my dry spell.  First, a pair of shoes I picked up since I posted my earlier shoe finds:

Casa Costanza brown wholecuts (sadly available, size EU 40.5, but probably fit a US 8 D/E with a very high instep).

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

I was hoping I could make these work with insoles, but the instep is too high for me.  Has anyone ever heard of the brand?  I looked them up, but only found women's shoes.  They appear to be on the level of Ferragamo mainline (very nice leather, blake-constructed, made in Italy).

I also passed on a pair of vintage shell French Shriner tassel loafers yesterday.  They would have been my first pair of shell finds, but the size was pretty wonky (10 A), and they didn't fit me, so I didn't want to take a chance.  They had moderate wear, and weren't in perfect condition, but far from beat (the soles looked original).  Definitely vintage, though, the label still read "French Shriner & Urner."

Anyway, on to my pants finds from my dry spell.

Nudie Jeans Regular Ralf in the New Used Deluxe Wash, they look barely worn in great condition (available, tagged a 29/34)

Mabitex heavy cotton fabric/cotton twill flat front dress pants (available, size EU 50/should be around 34 waist, will confirm)

PRL 100% linen flat front pants (available, tagged a 32/30)

Dries Van Noten light grey wide leg pleated pants (available, size EU 48)--any idea how old these are?

Dries Van Noten navy wide leg pleated pants (available, size EU 48)

Yup! Those Rugger gloves will be nice once the weather gets colder, I'm wearing one of the Nato straps as we speak and my wife took another one and I've never been a fan of avaitors, but these are facking sweet! My wife says I can't leave the house with them though. Living in boys town, she fears for my safety. rotflmao.gif
