For cool menswear shopping downtown there's Jackstraw http://www.jstraw.com/
, close to the Seattle Art Museum (which is also worthwhile); and on the other end of downtown there's Kuhlman http://www.kuhlmanseattle.com/
, next to the Cyclops bar, which is also worth a stop. In between, there's a large Army Surplus store on 1st, not far from Pike Place Market, which is the obvious place for you to spend a couple of hours. (If you're a foodie, check out DeLaurenti at the south end of the market, by the fish-throwing guys. If you're a hippie, check out Tenzing Momo herbalist http://www.tenzingmomo.com/
, in the same general area.)
It's a bit hard to find Cafe Zig Zag http://zigzagseattle.com/
, which is in between Pike Place and the piers, but they have very good bartenders who serve very good cocktails. At least a few of them were trained by Murray Stenson, one of the country's best bartenders, when he ran the bar there.
