The official thrift/discount store bragging thread - Page 4774

I remember why it is torturous for me to wander this thread. There is ever nothing in my size. And whenever I see anything I always wonder "Why don't I have that kind of luck when I decide to thrift shop?" frown.gif

Nataku, well done!!!  A very provocative display.  I normally don't go for such stuff, but those were pieces of art I'm sure someone could rock to no end.  Hope to see a couple on you, maybe.  Definitely a great welcome back to the thread after end-of-semester craziness.

Brian, great fit! I know where you're going to be x-posting...
Eddie, what a great classic tux! I think the double-breasted 6x2 is the most elegant a tux can get, with the 1-button single-breasteds close seconds.

Taking the derivative of a constant, regardless of value, yields zero.

A vest is on the list but prob need to get one custom made and cost almost as much as the Tuxedo itself cost.

- Isaia Tuxedo - 1 Button, Grosgrain Peak Lapel, Unvented (exactly what I wanted)
- Thomas Pink Tuxedo Shirt
- Polo Ralph Lauren Grosgrain Diamond Bowtie
- Ralph Lauren Purple Label Cummerbund
- Ralph Lauren Purple Label (Edward Green) Opera Pumps with Grosgrain Bow
- Tom Ford White Linen Pocket Square

Nothing but net.

Anyone's lady want this (shirt-dress?) for cost+shipping?  I got it with some store credit, but I didn't find anything else worthwhile.  Needs the treatment.

Also hit up Marshalls - shorts & tie

Crazy hauls everyone.  I feel like I was late to the party this weekend, flippers cleaned everyplace out, thought I had an Oxxford suit until I found the moth holes. Did find a Canali, fits.  Pants are weird though, waist fits perfect, the crotch is down to my knees and the rest is super baggy, would take some serious tailoring to bring everything in.  Can the zipper be shortened, or am I stuck?

Nothing exciting enough to show compared to y'all.

Now that things have settled down some, would someone be able to help me ID these selvedge jeans.  Not a single mark on them except for the waist, 34 and "1972" on the back of the buttons.  The buttons are cool, the pants are completely plain, the pockets feel crisp, like it's never been washed, so I don't think they're vintage.

and for the lulz:

worst fake ever? (Click to show)

looks like Popeye riding a bowlegged alpaca

one more:

knockoff or early? (Click to show)

Robert Graham becomes R&G?  Shirt was tame for Robert Graham.

I listed and sold all of the Brioni pieces I found for a nice profit, and so I was finally gonna list the Tincati suit that I found with them on the SF marketplace thing. From what I've read Tincati is supposed to be on par with Brioni and Kiton, but the name recognition is a lot lower so I thought people on SF would appreciate the construction, hand-work etc. Started taking pictures, and I was astonished at just how much hand-work was evident in the suit...until I saw this.

That's the Sanford. The Strand is an oxford. You should re-check the listing and see if the pictures match. If you were wanting the Strand then you received the wrong shoe. That said, I have a pair of Sanfords in walnut and love them. Great shoe!

Some great finds lately. I haven't been out for over a week - most of my time/money has been spent on getting thrifted items into the tailor.

PRL linen SC
PRL ginham shirt
no name emerald green knit tie (GMMcL)
Corneliani cotton/linen trousers (Bogdan)

The jacket is just a tad long for my taste but over all, this is a solid fit!

Awesome Oxxford tuxedo (?) jacket. One button. Notch lapel. Interesting Weave. Fits me.

(dark spot in bottom left of 2nd photo is from my iphone camera, not on the jacket)
