I once paid $.50 for a Fendi....and regretted it.

I know a certain 4" wide Polo tie that's not very Soporific...

If I picked up every Zegna/Talbott/BB/etc tie I've seen, I would probably have >300 ties stuffed in a box; never to be seen again. I did pick up a Dunhill in a blue/light blue the other week. I don't need any more ties, but it was too nice to leave behind.

I have got to learn to leave the older Zegnas behind. They definitely have a legacy of producing some ugly-as-shit ties. I have quite a few of them that I never wear. Maybe I should put them up on eBay as a batch and see if anyone bites. I also have a Fendi tie that, if is not fake, is absolutely awful.

as for the AE's, great find.. they look like they haven't been worn much and will clean up nicely. They look like Bel Air's but the medallion is a little different than mine. possibly just an older version?

Those aren't the Bel Airs, which have a more narrow toe. The nice thing is they have a AE soles still which would make them eligible for recrafting.

I'm passing on more ties myself. The cool thing is I'll were them a few times and if I don't like them I'll put a lot togethr and sell them on e-bay.

Yeah, I have some Bel Airs already, and I think I like this look a little more.

I'm really trying to decide whether I should jump for re-crafting with these while the deal is still running this weekend. I already could use another pair of shoe trees and some polish... but then again, maybe that is just plain spending too much money on a used pair of shoes (it's not like re-crafting touches the insole).

What deal is that? Sounds tempting

That pair still looks like they have a ton of wear left on the soles. Just put some lexol on them the moisturize the skins and then polish them up. They will look great.

Been watching this thread for a while and I've been thrifting for 15-20 years so I'll start to play too.

Here's today's find. Mystery-maker snuff suede roper boots with oil-proof soles(?!). The suede is very soft and clean and the soles just feel like topys so all is good. I've been pining for some Alden snuff suede chukkas (but was never really going to buy them) so these fit the bill nicely. The shape of the toe and heel don't suggest cowboy boots to my eye so I think they'll look decent with casual trousers.

I went through my collection and culled anything 3.75 and wider. I ended up with two bags of Zegna, Polo, etc.. I want to sell them somehow but I also noticed that some of what remains have been with me since college (80's). I'm lucky I didn't cull my 3" ones 5-10 years ago. With that in mind I wonder if I'll live to regret getting rid of my wide ties - anybody notice the Polo suit ads in the front of this month's GQ and Esquire?

Okay couple of days:
- Oxxford charcoal slacks - $3.99
- two Polo slacks for $4.50 each.
- Scott Barber(?) hidden button-down shirt for $3.50
- Various ties for under $2.99: a recent BB and Ike Behar, a nice wool challis from England, and a
vintage repp stripe made out of real nubby, raw silk. I'm definitely on a texture kick right now.
- after saying I never find pocket squares I came across 3 yesterday - .99 each
- Not thrifted, but this morning I woke up to catch a Romeo Gigli suit in my size on eBay for a $25
BIN with $5.90 shipping. It looks recent and in great shape so at that price I had to jump on it.
Now comes the part where I find out if it bears any resemblence to what I pictured it to be.
