Eazy the first deposit for the SS is inspirational. and spoo the stories and achievement of course was the beginning to my search of my own little red paperclip...
I have decided I am taking my money made from eBay and starting a savings to purchase a house...it's a big step but I won't stop.

Also easy u should go for a 68 Pontiac firebird formula 400. Maybe I'm bias because I own one wink.gif

I don't think any big well-known maker makes for Kuhlman. Still, their tailored stuff is great bang for the buck! We had so many outlets here in the TC area about 6-7 years ago so there's a lot of it floating around.

Nice! I really like HH stuff. I have a puffy lightweight jacket by them that is a cool weather favorite of mine.

Oh man, that took some serious self control! I would have such a hard time after just hitting the 5k mark. Can't even imagine the urge to splurge at 20k.....

Hey does this trip anybodies trigger?

I didn't get any bids on a 1 dollar ebay auction shog[1].gif

The tie is actually really beautiful but...I don't do sailboats and would feel disingenious (or insert correctly spelled big word that means "feel like a loser") wearing it.  Free to a good home so long as you promise to wear it.

"Discount" Brag of sorts.... this is my fav. so far! Wish it was my size, sooo bad ass. I've never seen a "summer" tweed before but this is as close as it gets. Call it Spring/Fall drool.gif

I kid you not, this is going to be chapter 13 in Spoo's book.....nest.gif

White it's very cool to hear people are benefiting from thrifting, I kinda wish we'd keep the flipping-money talk to a minimum. Inspiring more people to flip = more competition. peepwall[1].gif

+1.

I'll be far less coy: it's not the purpose of (and worse, is the very unfortunate new direction of) this thread.

When life gives you lemons, you have two choices....one of which is to make lemonade (and sell it to make money). If there is lemonade stand competition, just make sure you're better at it then the next guy cheers.gif

PS - I agree the flipping talk should be kept to a minimum but I think something BIG happened so it will be talked about for a week and then die down, just like most other tangents on the thread.

I agree. I was also hoping this thread would become a sf members thread and not a publicly viewable one.

I would still like to see that. Although the last few attempts have failed, I don't think we should give up the idea. Also, could we get frenchy in there? That guy pulled in the most amazing furniture finds...

Here is my .02

1. Thrifting to make purely money is a fad that will eventually die out.

2. The guys that are into here like Spoo, Dm7. Mainy, Capnwes are still looking for stuff for themselves. I don't begrudge any of them for what they do, I've dealt with them all and they are good dudes.

3. Thrift stores are going to price stuff up regardless of this thread. It blows my mind how the one GW near me marks anything of value. List time I was in there they had Lionel trains marked at prices you'd expect to see at a toy show. Same with electronics. Others let the stuff slide through at Normal prices....I think it depends on the management at that particular store.

I can see where the concern comes from, but consider this: the WAYWRN and tailor fit threads show anyone who cares to look how to improve their dress, but I still see people dressed like Gregg Williams ALL THE TIME!

So what chances are there that lurkers to this thread are growing exponentially and harvesting all the ideas expressed within? It's not like making money from this thing of ours is easy, else we'd all be driving 430's.
