Last year, my wife and I visited the US. I had the goal of hitting the thrifts along the way and paying for the entire holiday. I am still selling off things I found last summer and ended up paying for about 90% of it. This year, I'm paying for the entire trip from my thrift account and my budget is considerably larger.

As anyone here knows, it's a lot of work to do this (if you're doing it right, that is), but it's great to see other people that have reached their goals. It helps me evaluate where I'm at, where I want to be, and put it all in perspective.

Very cool Paul Stuart suit.  40L.  93% wool, 7% cashmere.  Grey/black houndstooth.  Ticket pocket.  No belt loops -- just adjustable side tabs.  Side vents. Great condition.  Doesn't look like it was worn much, if at all?

*Almost* fits me, but is about 1/2 inch too big in the shoulders. frown.gif

it'd be a Porsche 993 for me. car prices in Oz are almost double. sometimes, triple. on top of that, we don't have the population to find constant amazing finds; and to sell for decent coin is a different story.

The first word is Hall- and the second is Canada. This style of writing is similar to my grandmothers handwriting and she is 90 years old. So whoever engraved it probably did so a long time ago!

Two shoes I found today.

From a thift store - had a weird "mook" insole in it.  When I looked underneath, it said Burberrys Made in England.  Nice.

Only problem is that in research, I haven't found many Burberry shoes for Men.  Is this really for ladies (or worse.. fake)?

Printing says KC1101  255E  Not finding much there either.. Is it fake?

Also, here are the 13 AAA Aldens I found by accident today (in an Allen Edmonds box) at an estate sale.  Still, for $3, I'm pleased.  Funny, the width fits my 10 1/2 E quite well.. I'd probably trip over the toes though... :)

The logo looks right for the older vintage, and the script looks right. Plus, there's the shoe trees. What's throwing you, Spooster?

I found one thing on my way home Friday night. But it kicks ASS:

Vintage mint green (white balance is off) Pendleton tweed. The elbow patches are kid leather -- inCREDibly soft. LOOK AT THOSE BUTTON THROUGH PATCH FLAP POCKETS!!! Best part is it fits (OK, a tad long, but it'll do).
Worst part is the staining on the rear left quarter. But I'm going to get it cleaned and, if necessary, resort to more... drastic .., measures.

Here are also some closer/better pics of the Gray & Lampel suits. These are very, very well made, if heavy. The styling and cut fits in well with today's tastes, with the exception of the trou, where the rise is a tad long and loosey-goosey, and the horizontal pockets take some getting used to. Someone around my size (42-43R) should get at me. Gray birdseye, blue birdseye, navy flannel chalk stripe.
Approx measurements on each:
22 x 19 x 31.5 x 25
