Two firsts:

J Press Linen (I assume) herringbone, half-lined, fits me so not available.wink.gif
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

It looks hella-vintage, but feels hella-fused. Anyone know how to date a J Press?

And this Chester Barrie / Hawkes & Co (?) sport coat is definitely hella-vintage, and definitely available.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Horn buttons, hidden pocket on inside, in very good shape. I don't know my history well enough. I know Gieves bought Hawkes & Co. in the 1970s, but I don't know how Chester Barrie fits into the picture. At any rate, I assume this was an OTR model, or it wouldn't have the size written on the label.

^^^^I'm pretty sure that's the first Oxxford tie in this thread, and a lovely one to boot!

Hey you bastards! I'm BACK IN THE SADDLE! I've completed my first year of law school, and im now taking a week long thrift-cation. I WILL be bringing the heat a week from now, and hopefully on a smaller scale once a week over the summer, just like the good old days (not that I was ever pulling in the best hauls, but not bad ones you picky mofuckers *insert recent brioni tux with cummerbund and bow, almost without comment*). To all I owe shit to, I'll send once im back and working/finally have a stable schedule again, but I will NOT screw you (expect extra goodies for your goodwill/patience). If you're really sweating it... well you probably would've messaged me more than anyone has, but you're welcome to talk to the homies here, most will tell you im a good guy. Today was hampered by lack of time and not going to my true honey holes, but recent Canali and Current label Sammy Suits, sweeeet BReid shirt (keeping), a Jpress Presstige blazer w/ some sheen but W/E, and a first for me... Zegna Couture, orphan, but shit... it was 350 cents! Also ran across my first d'avenza suit today, but had holes :(. I'm also about 4 dogfish head 90 minutes in, so sorry for rambling, but im stoked to get back to what I actually enjoy. The Canali is a 40S, so you already know who will/has/forever will dibs it, however if thats your size, hollatchaboi, I know that Mofo and he has plenty of clothes if you're new and really lacking!

PS, you DFW motherfuckers, someone meet up with me, for the love of god. I have a strong desire to meet a thrift thread member in person, and all the DFW guys are always either not interested, or not in town, or think I have AIDS transmitted by close proximity or something.

PPS from awhile ago, the od/og guy? From chicago, you were giving me some strong hate awhile ago, I didn't mean to piss you off, I just meant that you obv find nice shit and should post more often.

On that note, I found my first non-suit Oxxford this week. It's a straight collar shirt in navy and white stripes. It has Turnbull & Asser collar stays. Does T&A make the shirts for Oxxford, or did the previous owner have the wrong stays in?

Eazy, sorry, I fell asleep last night before I could get pics of that Triumph item. It's actually a Triumph motorcycle jacket....only a second cousin to the bicycle.

Pretty sure the wrong stays. Kiton made Oxxford shirts, for a quick supernova minute though.

Why are those old Burberry's trench coats ALWAYS so massive? They always seem to be in great shape, but the one I found yesterday has a pit to pit of 27" and is tagged a 56 reg. The others I've found were also very large.

Probably not worth a whole lot. Vintage tuxes are worth far less than vintage suits in good condition, because they were worn less and didn't get worn out. So there are more of them around.

If it was a larger size (at least 40R, better yet 42R+) and in perfect condition, maybe $100.

Way to beat the norm! There are always exceptions, and being an establishes seller with good photos and listings helps your chances greatly.
