So, I ordered a pair of Gustin selvedge denim jeans a month or so ago, and I got these from them today at no charge to me (well, I think...I'll be checking my credit card statements biggrin.gif)! These are awesome products! I think this is worth bragging. Yes?

Picked up two good ties today. I made a rule that I can't spend over $6 on a tie 'til I get a new job.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
My first Marinella!

And these shoes look good, but too big for me, and I couldn't find an identifying mark, so I don't know if they're flippable. Anyone know?

Found my first shells in a while today. Vintage Florsheim Imperial V cleats, 62 nails on the heel, just begging to be saved. Sz 11D. They looked sad, but the leather was intact, no cracking or holes.
Before:

After an hour of brushing. Gonna hit them again tomorrow, my arms arms are tired.

And some Mason Chippewa boots, but I haven't touched those yet, so no pics.

So, so much win on this thread since about noon. Dex: nice Hermes.
Other dudes, I infer you did well on the SWD side of the house, though it could be just as plausible that all the SWD guys are effing with the MC crowd like me. My puny brain just isn't large enough to remember all these micro brands.

But this blew my MIND:

Marinella. Less than $6. (I guess most ties we all pick up are less than $6, so maybe I shouldn't be surprised. But still!)
As for the shoes, we will need a heel shot and pics of the inner. Plus there's a whole separate thread for that sort of thing. Too lazy to post link now.

And Easy's post just reinforces for me that Shell is a magical material.

Finally, may have a slim window tomorrow to head out for the first time in weeks. Usually when I go this long between outings I find jack and crap (with Jack having just left town), since this is totally a numbers/frequency game. Still, I need a stress release. So wish me luck.

Got these bad boys on my trip. Suede with Vibram thick rubber tires soles. $95 NWOT. Babu. I think these were "imported" and the retail stores just stick their own brand on them. Not the most beautiful color but I'm in need of a pair of Olive loafers. Everyone needs a pair in olive, right? Right.

These are only a fraction of the food related pics I've took.

Also, my cousin and aunt both collect antiques and fossils. They showed me their collection...Wow...I was speechless. Anyhow, if anyone is interested PM me. I'll more than happy to share my memories.

Pretty interesting trip today.

First off, I found some coins!  Pretty rare for me at a thrift shop.  I'm a coin collector and always enjoy finding things.  These were 4 proof sets from the early 70s and some silver dollars from the early 70s too.

Found these cufflinks - marked 1/20 14K G.F.   Was familiar with the concept of 14K Gold Fill, but not the 1/20.  Looked it up and figured I'd share.  the 1/20 means that 1/20th of the weight of the cufflinks is 14K gold.  Maybe I got my $3 back. :)

Found a Hickey Freeman Loro Piana Zelander suit in 44R (closer to a S).  Haven't seen Zelander before.  Suppose that means the wool came from New Zealand.

Found another Luciano Barbera tie - not familiar with the labels - Is this really old?

Also picked up a pair of Bally loafers from Italy.  Think I wasted my $5 here... They looked pretty good until I got home.  The leather looks like it pulled from the sole at the ball of the foot on both feet.  Also looks to have been glued back.. and reseparated.  Thought this stuff was pretty good quality.. maybe not.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

FINALLY -- THE GOOD STUFF!!

Question / Poll for the day --

I tend to find myself annoyed when going through coats and I find that someone before me has gone through them all, pulled out their content/size tags and left them pointing up out of the inside pocket.  Is it actually a nice practice so that people know that you've already checked it out?  Or is it just being lazy (not putting it back).  I usually assume that I'll find nothing when I see the tags sticking out of the pocket...  glad I run my hand over the coats.

I felt this coat and it was pure heaven..   I've had a bunch of cashmere coats before, but nothing that felt this soft...

Zegna Su Misura (2008) pure cashmere.  Working cuffs.  With the tag sticking up saying 100% cashmere.  Suppose it was too pricey for them at $6.

Sitting next to it was another Zegna cashmere (blend) jacket of some sort.  With the tag sticking out again.  I have no idea what to call this.. You guys?

Never assume that.

1. They could have just been looking for something in their size.

2. If they were flipping tags, there is still a good chance they don't know all of them or just plain missed something.

3. New stuff could have been put out since they looked.

Does the script on this BB tag look weird? Particularly the S's

Member that one time we hung out and I found that Marinella for $1.89? Member?

On another note, I popped two cherry's today, sort of. Got my first taste of Kiton and Issia. Both at Marshall's. Kiton was a cashmere glen plaid suit, $1200, Issia was a pinstripe aqua spider, $999. Weren't my size and didn't have the bread anyways. Nice to fondle though. nod[1].gif

Edit: about shell. The second I hit them with a brush, all those glorious fat deposits and oils came to the rescue and returned these once neglected shoes one step closer to the glory that they once enjoyed!
