The official thrift/discount store bragging thread - Page 4578

I grabbed these from a local consignment shop. Not terribly cheap, but they're new. It's also a bit rare to find something like that in my size. I also got an identical pair in a smooth tan leather.

I'm posting this for fun. I bought this jacket a couple of years ago (non-thrift) because I fell in love with it. It's a horse hide motorcycle jacket handmade by Riccardo Bestetti. It was one of two made. The problem is that since I've owned it, I've worn it exactly 1 time for about 20 minutes. I saw it hanging in my closet today, so I decided to go with it. This is not something I'd ordinarily wear, but I decided to step outside my comfort zone. It's inspired me to get my dream bike icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif. Anyway, it's something I thought I'd share.

Thrift thread synergy? Found an REI 60/40 parka. Medium. I think this the oldest REI piece I've found yet (guessing early to mid 80s). Lining is merino wool!

In the hunt. Found a recent Zegna Trofeo suit. Jacket is pristine. Looked for pants and it looks like a pen burst in the guys pocket. Should I take a chance?

never found much in thrift stores in NYC, if anything they are more expensive than consignment and discount stores, am i missing something?

Kinda sorta discount brag? NWT Recent Isaia for $600 count? This is really why I thrift and sell 10 suits / 25 shirts / 50 ties on ebay to pay for one suit my size that I'm happy with.

Quite a few stores there to cover! If you know your margins then you can make out well; things will be more expensive, but things will be much, much nicer. Spend money to make money.

If cheap, kop and give this a try:

Worst case, they get further ruined and you toss 'em.

It is something special. An added bonus was watching the woman at the store price it. This is a place that marks up everything made in Italy or with a foreign sounding name you think you may have heard of. She opened up the jacket, studied the purple label, and gave it the standard suit price for the store.
