Thrift Fit

Awesome Wes!

One of my daughters asked if she should wear black for her Easter dress. I told her Easter is a time for bright colours. I will have to show her this picture!

Man, I just cant do white shoes. I have however, been creeping on ebay for the perfect pair of Lanvin's after Noob posted his awesome pair.

Here's the Hermes. I know I know....it's probably an orphan....and it has some issues, but still. Can't we let it slide just this once? It's the most common solid gray color in the suit world, I had no problem matching it to 15 pairs of off brand trousers in that same thrift store. Too bad none of them were the true match.

I'm calling it New with Defects. Unopened pockets, unopened surgeon cuffs.

Nice! I'm happy when I find anything that I don't need to alter either the sleeves or have taken in a bit.  To find Canali that fits perfect would be like hitting the lotto!  worship.gif

That suit is great and if I weren't saving for a couple of holidays, it would be mine. I say that now, but we'll see if self-control really gets the better of me.

I remember that suit and you have some patience for waiting it out, congrats!

There simply wasn't an outdoor goods industry then.  There was a cottage industry developing, but often the quickest way to have a piece was to order a kit and make it yourself.  They were pre-cut and accompanied by a pattern, so if you were competent at using a sewing machine, it wasn't a big deal.

Thanks guys. I had just seen some Lanvin at Neiman Marcus and I thought the label looked like the one I found. Paid $20 for it, but it's definitely a fashion piece and not a staple. I'll post pics later.

In the meantime, this Oxxford Polo is a large, mint condition, thick MOP buttons. 24" pit to pit and 23.5" shoulder, available at my cost + shipping.
