The official thrift/discount store bragging thread - Page 4483

So here's an establishing shot.  Other than the coat and vest, all of this was purchased today.  While there are no stains or pulls, many of the ties are wrinkled and some are going to require a lot of work... but its totally going to be worth it.

Spoilered because it's like 50 pictures but totally worth checking out so click it! (Click to show)

First up, J. Press Pressidential Donegal tweed.

Any love for J Peterman?  Bought because it looked pretty cool - it's 100% cotton and made in Portugal.

So.  Many.  Ties.

These are not brag worthy, but were in the bag with everything else.  Move along to the better stuff.

BB x2 Made in England, and a J Press Made in Italy.

NWT Breuer

Brioni x3

NWT Vineyard Vines x3

Duchamp... NWT.  Wasn't something like this posted just a few days ago, and sold for a ridiculous amount?  Here's hoping I can copy that feat.

HERMES X4

HERMES X4 MORE

Gianni Campagna x2.  Is the one on the left a grenadine?  (never seen one in person.)  Silk, Made in England.

Gianni Campagna x3.  I believe these three are all silk, made in Italy.

Gianni Campagna x3.  Cashmere, wool, cotton left to right.

So endeth the ties... on to the pants.

Howzabout some Loro Piana?

Deja vu...

Here's some more of that Gianni Campagna...

I don't think you can make it out in the photo, but these are Brioni Sport.

So are these.

My first ever Kiton!!!!!!

And this totally, totally sick pair of gray trousers...

...that are 100% cashmere, made in Italy, Incotex.  I think the retail on these is close to $2k.

So, yeah.  Other than the coat, vest, two BB and J Press ties, all of that came in three big bags from the same location.  Not pictured: some Patagonia shorts, North Face shorts, and a few other odds and ends that were part of the lot.

Not bad for the (non-Chicago) midwest.  I almost felt like one of the California guys...

I went to NM Last Call to check out the 50-65% off clearance that I mentioned. Most of the items that were marked down 50% or more were fairly expensive, but it meant several Zegna mainline blazers around $350 with tax. They had a few Kiton blazers, some Tom Ford, but nothing I really felt was worth the hassle and initial outlay to flip, even with a 30-day return policy. If it wasn't a 60 mile hike for me I might have considered a couple of items. Someone mentioned Fray shirts a few pages back. I had never ran across one before, but saw a few there tonight. Talk about thick buttons, they were nearly twice as thick as some Borrelli buttons I've seen.

I did pick up some stuff for myself:

These weren't bad for $62

$43, 100% cashmere:

And finally, my favorite, this BITCHIN' black fleece button down for $49:

Just one Gianni Campagna would be amazing, but you've got multiples!! That is insane!

A quick Google search reveals the owner of that stuff was definitely making good money.

Ok Ok.... Just got back from that thrift store (in the cave happy.gif, no, but really, I have one of the strongest flashlights known to man) Got all 5 shirts. All of them a currently spoken for though! Sorry Eazy! But I'll watch for more stuff in your size! Turns out, upon further inspection.... A few of the Zegna's have MoP buttons...?! Am I right to think that? Or are they just shiny buttons? The blue plaid at the bottom has 2 really thick buttons for the collar. 2 of them also still have the cardboard neck liner!

So I went thrifting today... things were good, but turned sour really fast! I found orphaned pants... searched high and low for the jackets, with no luck. Found a Borrelli blue and white gingham shirt, size 15.5, only to find a hole towards the gusset! Siggghhhhhhh.... OH! And some guy elbowed me in the boob because "he didn't see me". Shit head. I blinded him with my flashlight as payback happy.gif

Pictures of said Borrelli..... Not for the squimish! (Click to show)

And I found 4 Zegna shirts. All size Medium. Did not buy. But if anyone here is interested in these shirts, do let me know and I'll try to get them tomorrow!

That Zegna 2nd from the right is awesome! Too bad they tend to cut their shirts big in the waist...

Most of the Zegna I've found all have MOPs. Just do the "button to the cheeks (not the butt cheeks, the face cheeks) or chin or lower lip test" to see.

The ties and pants were 3 of the 5 available lots.  One had a dozen shirts, 2 Brioni, 4 Campagna, 2 Hermes among others.  They all had some pretty serious ring around the collar, so I stopped with these.

I don't think its a seven fold (but I don't think I've ever seen one in person) but it is super thick.

The crazy thing - All of that loot came in at well under $100.  Between this and the two pairs of John Lobbs last month, I think I'm setting some unrealistic expectations for myself.

Huh.  I just realized I forgot to post pics of the Luciano Barbera cords I picked up with that J Press Donegal.  Oh well.

First post...long time lurker. Some of the things you guys find amaze me...I'm a noob, but I'm starting to learn right from wrong.

Not sure if this is the Brioni that I'm looking for, or if they are even authentic...but I hope so. Also, the Barbour was already sold to the bay.

The 3 Brioni pieces are available, if anyone is interested in them.

The sweater and shirt are tagged Large..I'm a 15.5, and they are too big. I'd estimate them around a 17.

The jacket is also too big..once again, I'd estimate it to fit a size 17. The buttons don't seem to work very well baldy[1].gif
