Re: gold buttons: you will KNOW. Gold is seriously heavy. Trust me. Tug the sleeve up. If the primary weight is the sleeve, not gold (or gold plate in which case who cares?). Tug the sleeve up and feel resistance, do what I do with Kim Kardashian: check the behind.

Plus, lick test? Have you all lost your damn minds? Obvuously the only way to tell real pearl is to spit on it and see if it turns green. Duh.

Nice engraved MOP buttons. Have you guys seen FAKE shirts with MOP buttons??

real I found the same shirt but plaid, spoo listed it as tom ford era went for about 80

Saw that one in my completed listing search which is what made me feel 99% sure it was real hence dropping some cash on it. I think it went for $100+ icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Meanwhile, I stopped back in at a VV that had just visited two days ago and against all odds was finally able to check off another bucket item.

Sure, they're pleated and the tag is just about worn through but I finally found a pair and they fit!. I'll wash the car in them or something. satisfied.gif

Do you have a denim bowtie to go with it yet? Spread collar or wing collar flannel shirt?

I once saw someone I may or may not know who sniffed a shoe to see if it was shell cordovan. rotflmao.gif

Now for today's finds.

First,

Found this Cartier watch for a couple bucks today. The crystal feels....plastic-y. Other than that, it looks pretty decent. Can you weigh in on the authenticity of this?

Found a vintage outerwear grail today. Guys, this is what to look for. Holubar down parka with the uber-rare detachable down filled hood. Honestly, this thing feels like you're wearing a sleeping bag. Super puffy!

I'll ask here rather than some thread where I don't know anyone.

What's the skinny on Frye boots? Specifically...

Ebay: Brown Slip-On Mens Ankle Frye Boots 87240 Size 10D

Do I want these to wear under denim? I had a pair on at VV this evening but they want 70 bones for them! crazy.gif

X post from the heel pattern/label ID thread: Thrifted this belt. I feel like I recognize the script but can't place it. Anyone have a better memory than me?

Any OG Teva People out there? I thrifted this reminder of part of my 16th birthday present (1992) today... This was all I wore my senior year of high school.

I don't think it's anything special as I've seen that font on some belts before. Maybe a Lands end belt I used to have? Perhaps an old Tommy Hilfiger belt I got rid of? It could be a belt manufacturer that does belts for several companies. Kinda like Hanover shoes did shoes for Bostonian and others. Looks pretty decent quality though.

Thrifts have been slow for me, but I've got my fix at the usual discount stores:

  • Barbour International waxed motorcycle jacket, $300 below retail

  • Filson Northern quilted jacket, $25

  • Billy Reid "Jack" chinos x 2, $25 each
  • Pantherella OTCs, $3

Passed on a Filson Macinaw Cruiser in my size for $100 and am kicking myself. Also picked up "A Dandy Guide to Dating Vintage Menswear" on Amazon. It came in the mail today; review to follow.
