Quick thrift fit then back to the grind; need to make up for yesterday's sloth here at work. There are two purposes of today's fit:
2. Document what this suit looked like BEFORE I started monkeying with it. At some point, I'm going to start experimenting with my own tailoring: I plan to increase the waist suppression, narrow the arm cuff opening, and narrow the trousers. And if all else fails, this suit isn't far off from my dry cleaner's size, so I can always give it to him for some "good will" points. (100% thrifted/ebayed/traded here) Suit: Zegna Trofeo, Made in Switzerland. Shirt: Thomas Pink Links: unknown brand, traded from catside Tie: Brioni Shoes: Cole Haan (Nike era, but they're the only brown captoes I have)
I'm thinking this PS thing is a job for ...

No one knows color and pocket squares (other than pocketsquare guy) the way Spoo knows it.
Yeah, it's probably too matchy but I've mostly chickened out on pocket squares and go with a white linen TV fold 93% of the time. :embar:

I hope you all use this website for thrift-scouting: http://www.thethriftshopper.com/

Place is pretty good, and it works on mobile if you are in a new location

This is a pretty good iphone app too...maps the locations in order of closeness and gives turn by turn directions.

This one too. Pulls garage sales off craigslist in your area.

DM7, where does your screen name come from?
When I was younger I guess I thought dark matter and the number 7 were cool

Ughhh! Kudos in focussing on your studies, but PLEEEEEEASE don't stop posting your awesome stuff. As an everyday thrifter, your posts are an inspiration to me (and others I'm sure). If you really decide to let the jealous skeptics keep you down, I wouldn't mind if you post your brags directly in my PM box.
Thanks man. I will keep posting. I really am going to be serious about school for a bit though.

Oh man. There's an 83% chance that I'm going to be in Anaheim for a few days around the 3rd of August. The only thing in walking distance is some joint with a mouse that wears high waisted shorts and a family of ducks and the ducks don't even wear pants!
Take the train up to LA, and I'll show you around.

I hope that's not your filing system for tax purposes. If it is, you should really check out "Outright" in the ebay apps. It makes everything really easy to track and does most of it for you.
Err... haven't thought of taxes yet.

This is why I don't know why there is any doubt about if he thrifts his stuff. It's a goldmine down there! Can't wait till I can go back and actually thrift where the big boys go.
Take a designated trip here some time this summer. I can help you find a place to stay, and show you the spots. I wouldn't be surprised if you'd be able to pay for the trip and more with your thrifting.

Picked up a Donegal Tweed J.Press Blazer today. First J.Press and it appeared to be a good one so I went ahead and snagged it. 5% Cashmere / 35% Kid Mohair / 60% wool blend.

Tagged 41L and appears to be Unworn. Available

Also, I had been looking for 2 chairs to place in front of my 10' High x 8.5' Wide window in my living room. I am an architect so I will be holding out for some really sexy pieces of MVDR, Corb, Eames, Saarenin furniture to go here in the long run. But for now, these will do.

Apropos of DM7, here's today's thrift pics

DB SC by Corneliani from DM7, one of his first decent finds
Shirt by Joseph Abboud, thrifted (this is pink, although it's hard to tell)
Tie from the Tie Bar
Pocket Square from Nordstrom Rack
Pants from Bonobos
Socks from Target
Shoes by Cole Haan (hey, I still like them!)

How'd I do with the shirt / tie / square combo?

Great colors, but I'd go with a Strand type shoe in brown/walnut with the DB jacket. Saddle design shoes seem too casual with the SC. Need more pinking and perfing.
