The official thrift/discount store bragging thread - Page 4211
You'd think I'd be a millionaire after this became a national best seller. Nope. I'm still at the thrifts battling all the folks that bought this blasted book!

Really? Wow! You learn somethin' new every day!

Have had these two sitting around for a while and never got around to posting. There was a third, which I left in store, that was beat up. All three were nearly identical.
Double the pleasure: Double the fun. (Click to show)
Picky picky. White balance killed the navy-ness.
Pockets lined with the same lining as the jacket (each jacket had a different color dot on blue)
Belt across the vent for your pleasure.
p2p- 23.5
length- 33.5
sleeve- 25.5
shoulders 21- 21.5
WOW! These are amazing!

Well done!!!!

Have been skipping over the coats lately, but I do take a quick look looking for leather and down filled. Thankfully, because I found this yesterday (headed to eBay to help finance a trip to Arizona for spring training next month). Thrift store had it marked at $40, but it was half off day.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Excuse me? Are you suggesting that people who wear J Crew clothing are tools? If so, then I suggest you continue deleting your account as you have claimed that you intend to do. There is no place in this thread to insult people by the clothes they wear (we wear 2nd/3rd/4th hand clothing and like it for goodness sake). If you want to be part of that crowd, go to the good taste thread.
Also, I like J Crew :(
Hey man, I don't think he meant it in an insulting way. Ian using the term "J Crew tool" is similar to when I use the term "denim douche bag." I don't mean to say everyone who wear denim tops with denim bottoms are douche bags. It's just denim over load. Hell, I wear chambray shirts and denim jeans combo. all the time.

Not sure whether this is universal, and will disclaim that I have NOT researched this. But I suspect you would have at least a plausible claim that they have to honor the tag price. It's the classic mistaken coupon situation: It's an offer to sell, and you've accepted. They can CANCEL that price, but only after giving you notice. You accepted their offer before they canceled. I'm sure one of you young bucks is going to tell me I'm wrong, and the UCC actually has some kind of exception on point, but at the very least, I would have made my dissatisfaction highly audible, and would definitely have asked for a manager and threatened to call the Better Business Bureau AND TJX customer service.
That's all I EVER find for ties at TJX. LeSigh.
+1
Would more folks on here inclined to agree if the "mistaken sitcharooney" were pulled on their favorite sports car? I, for one, would be outraged if that were to happen to me.

J. Crew is largely shit and their target look is fairly toolish. Get over it.
The entire forum is "good taste" (this is also posted in MC, btw, though that is of little relevance at this point. I doubt J. Crew would be defended to the death on the SW&D side either), and if you get offended by a little bit of elitism, you're going to find yourself offended pretty damn often here. Of course, there are exceptions and there are plenty of great J. Crew pieces (just one page back Eazye posted an awesome blackwatch plaid toggle coat that is drool-worthy), but much of it is poorly/cheaply made and unoriginal, so the flack is well deserved.
The nice thing about fashion is that there is no ultimate arbiter of style, so you can just as easily tell me to screw off and continue rocking the J. Crew gear as you please.
Haha, +0.5

With all of this talk about J.Crew and Varatos... here are my finds from yesterday...
From top: Hickey, Zanella, VV, PRL Linen
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Canali Linen
Belvest (First for me) Unvented but really nice wool SC.
Really nice recent Armani rain coat, small stain on front that should wipe right off.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
I know not many fans here, but figured those on the bay might want this. Large Ben Sherman, vents still sewn shut cord jacket.
For my J. Crew fans.. vintage waxed cotton jacket. Couple of flaws that I missed as I was in a rush.
Annoyed this is big on me. French Connection navy Linen Jacket peak lapel tagged 44
NWT Hickey Rain jacket
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
From Left to right: Sperry 11, John Varatos by Converse (size tag removed, no idea how to estimate size with my big feet), AE loafers 11B, AE Clifton 9.5D
Wow! I think this is your best haul so far! Congrats!

That thing is going to sell like hot cake! Big eBay $! Congrats, dude!

Live post should I grab these? Martin greenfielel and bb bespoke for Ed Koch.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Insta cop! Is that the same Ed Koch who just passed away recently? If so, I think people will eat it up on eBay!
haha I agree it looks good I just don't personally like peacoats very much but after wearing it on valentines day and getting the attention of many girls I think I can be convinced to hang onto it :) at least for the time being...
I feel like I spread misinformation. what I am trying to do is delete this account or change the name and make a new more anonymous one. I would never just straight up leave you guys!!
in other news I just picked up like half (slight exageration xD) of the f/w 11 michael bastian for gant shirting. dude knows how to make stuff that fits tall skinny swede's. none of the shirts were more than $40 on the bay...

you've probably looked into this a little more but I think I remember hearing that the admins can manually change your account name. Considering that every time another member quoted you they put your name into a post scrubbing your name from the site is probably an impossible task.
Yeah it's got to be him.
So here's the details - left behind a BB custom suit that had a massive hole in the crotch - however it did have a beautiful pair of braces attached which I grabbed (more on that later).
Martin Greenfield Bespoke Suit for Ed Koch - charcoal gray, single vent, 3 roll 2, flat front trousers with no belt loops, braces buttons only. Good shape, no immediate flaws jumped out at me. He was a big dude, this thing is at least a 46L.
Martin Greenfield Bespoke Blazer for Ed Koch - navy blue, single vent, 3 roll 2, silver buttons (missing one on the sleeve).
BB Braces (Ed Koch owned)
I believe these are the Trafalgar braces I'm looking for (Ed Koch owned and NWT?!?!?!?!)
Also snagged this Filson Sweater (pretty recent, size Large)
And this BB Harris tweed overcoat 46L - sadly a bit late in the season for this....
Hey!
Since it's been a while since my last clothes-related post, here's the highlight reel of the last 6 - 8 weeks or so:
^^^ Loro Piana cashmere sweater size EUR 56. NOT AVAILABLE. Kind of a neat story: I bought it at GW, but it had a small hole in the left elbow. I took it to a custom leather shop on Charles St. on Beacon Hill and had them put dark brown suede patches on both elbows. It's too big on me, but it's really soft and comfortable. I use it as a sleeping sweater.
^^^ Funny no-name 100% cotton "SEXUAL POSITIONS" pocket square.
^^^ Ermenegildo Zegna "fatte a mano" shoes size 9 EE. NOT AVAILABLE. These shoes are almost like new - very little wear.
^^^ Ermenegildo Zegna "fatte a mano" shoes size 10 1/2. NOT AVAILABLE. My size!
^^^ All of these are BNWT and are silk, wool, or a silk / wool blend from either Bergdorf Goodman or Neiman Marcus. NOT AVAILABLE. I bought these at a discount store.
^^^ RLPL purple corduroy pants 32 x 33 with 2" cuffs. NOT AVAILABLE. I bought these on eBay for a REALLY low BIN.
The Deets (Click to show)
^^^ Stuffed pheasant. DEFINITELY NOT AVAILABLE. Not a thrift find, but it's cool.
Aaand a lot of really cool vintage stuff not pictured.

see that is why I wanted to get banned because then you show as a banned user and your username doesn't appear
