I like this idea, however I think my most expensive suit is a HF or a Madison BB. I will not be in the running :/

Yeah, I'd be nowhere near the top either... $2775

Best I could do would be: Luciano Barbera dress shirt ($350), Allen Edmonds Belt ($90), Zanella Trousers ($350), Prada monk strap shoes ($550), Zegna Venticinque tie ($360), Hickey Freeman sport coat ($900), Dobbs hat ($175). Nothing would match, but that's about the best I could do price-wise.

Anybody have a line on Olympic delegate badges? I found a blazer with a 96 Atlanta patch from the Denmark delegation. Probably not worth anything, but it was cool to see.

Also, air force uniform from 1962?

I kept my cool, didn't react to the fact that she'd just nearly ruined a $600 pair of shoes (that I bought new, at retail, because I just got sick of waiting to find a pair in a thrift)

Lesson learned.

I will

1) NEVER PAY RETAIL AGAIN

2) Keep a change of shoes in the car for stops like this

3) Remove tie bars, ties, cufflinks, watches etc before getting elbow deep in a rack full of pee stained clothes

BTW- if anybody happens to come across a Georg Jenson tie bar in an Austin area Goodwill, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know.

You did better than I would have. I would have had a Frenchy moment and gone Rascal tipping.

Pure brag from the record shop yesterday with the exception of the shirt in the lower right corner from the day before. Starting at the top L-R.

Borrelli, Zegna, (for me) Battistoni, Brioni, Kiton, Etro, RG, RG, ZegnaSport summery as fuck linen.

With the stars being (Click to show)

The Borrelli has some of the worst neck stains ever, but at $2.95 I figure it's worth a shot if for nothing else buttons... But yeah I have to try cleaning it up first. The rest of them are pretty much tip top, and pretty much too big for most of you (17-17.5).

Dang AHS, super nice tie haul! That 2nd Kiton is especially nice, IMO, and a thrifted 7-fold Kiton? Yowza.

My only find, Talbott BoC

Today was a near-miss day, tho, sadly. Am currently following an eBay listing very similar to this navy, 2 button, Hickey Freeman bespoke with Loro Piana fabric suit. Store tagged it as a 52 jacket (though seems fatter around the middle, more 54 or even 56ish), but the real kicker was the pants. 50x28. Yowza. I'll trust tailoring for a lot of things, but not to take 10 inches out of a waist.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Sigh... Also left a Valentino Roma shirt, that's the lesser diffusion line right? Might've snagged for myself, but too small.

That has been there for a while.  By the way, I cleaned out that store yesterday.  Sorry :/

I think I will hold on to the Kitons. At least the navy... but the Zegnas and Barbera are available at cost plus shipping if anyone wants them. The polka dot Zegna shows some wear.

AHS

Zegnas and Barbera claimed.

Thanks,

AHS

I have picked up Tom James.  I pick up a suit once to flip on the bay but could not get rid of it so it went back to Goodwill.  Now I only pick them up for myself when it is something in mint condition (like the Holland & Sherry suit I recently copped!).  I think the quality is certainly decent enough to wear.

Damn, every time I tried to catch up to this thread I would just fall farther behind... for a week. Finally gave up and skipped several days worth. Saw the amazing Cucinelli sweater finds. Gotta say that seems like the haul of the last few days (sorry Mainy).

Haven't had much time for thrifting but I've got a few things to show tonight and the stuff I picked up last weekend in Buffalo.

I have marveled at the girth of the man who had that suit commissioned. humorously, it is probably an executive at the hospital where this thrift shop is located. #irony

There's a list of the heirarchy on the Tom James website. I think Innocenti Oro is the lowest. I've actually had decent luck trading or selling Tom James, with just one exception. But I only, only, ONLY pick up for dirt cheap, in excellent condition, recent and upper end lines (as noted, H&S fabric, Royal Classic and above).

Finds from the last few days.

Church's custom grades, in 10 AA. So narrow!

Vintage PRL. Very nice 3-roll-2 tweed and very early too. Union tag in it dates this to before 1976.

Sweet Crombie Highland Tweed.

Lovely rusty brown HT.

Pendleton Made In USA Western SC and complementary NWT Pendleton Wool Western shirt with pearlized snap buttons.

Fugly RG with odd scalloped cuffs (outer edge of cuff isn't straight. It has a concave bow to it).

Eton candystripe for an SF member.

I passed on the first RLPL tie I've seen in the wild. They wanted $9 and it wasn't in the greatest condition. The loop on the back that holds the skinny part of tie was being held on by a bobby pin, and there were a couple of pulls. After seeing what Spoo was getting for pretty sweet looking PL ties in good condition, I didn't think it was worth the time and effort to photograph and list, and I wouldn't have worn it.

I got skunked at a GW and TJ Maxx. It seems as though the number of people I am seeing thrifting has increased, although most of them don't appear to know what they're doing. One lady today saw the same shawl sweater I had spotted on a mannequin 10 minutes earlier (it was alan flusser) and she proceeded to look it up on her phone. Most of these people don't go through the suits, thank god. I've seen her there before, and I'm not really sure what her strategy is because she doesn't seem to know anything about brands, but the store regularly has brooks brothers shirts in large quantities that never sell. You'd think she'd be buying them. I did see her pick up a really heavy LL Bean sweater than I would recognize again. I'm gonna see if I can find it on eBay and see what else she's selling. I'm really curious to know what she's buying.

Thought there was a way of narrowing your search field to show people within 10, 20, 50 miles, etc. That may help narrow the field.

One find today. Pretty funny because I just traded Grendel for one of these. lol8[1].gif It is tentatively available because it is only slightly too large.

Barbour Quilted Vest, Navy I think? Large

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
