Hrm, when I "almost" found you a tux I found another one, shawl-collar midnight blue in a larger size (I'm guessing like a 44? didn't bother looking at the size or measuring since I was on a mission.)  Was like $38, though.  Wondering if I should go back for it? Someone here in the low-mid '40s sizing want one or should have one at a little higher than thrift prices?  Not really into flipping, but maybe if someone (Brian?) wants me to proxy and split profits... Don't know.  There was a dated Zegna peak-lapel dinner jacket too, but it was paired with random pants.  Sigh.  I think I'm finally reaching that point after the initial noob-craze of picking up everything you think is good and tradeable, to now being extremely wary of picking up a CT shirt in a tradeable size that is pink plaid (happened yesterday).

Holy shit, super-tempted.  I'm confused, though; it's a cardigan, but it's linen.  In case you have a chilly summer eve outside?  Maybe on a boat?  [trying to justify]

Are some of my pickups all suits / sport coats. Not sure the Attolini is authentic but I will post pics later.

Changed my thrifting habits - I aint picking up the "fairly" old stuff anymore. If it is older than 10 years or in less than mint condition, nighty night it stays there. I am not against the vintage scene but a 15 year old Brioni suit is not vintage nor is it in any manner modern. Basically unpickable in my book and offensive to look at as well. I left around 4 of these Brioni's behind the other day and it was a heck of a decision given they were only 9bucks a pop.

If it were not for name, I would have felt no pain.


Hell no, that gorge is pretty well placed and the lapels have a good width. It is nearly perfect and timeless.

To see what low gorge means, just pick up any Mani / Giorgio Armani Collezioni jackets and then you will change your opinion of what constitutes a low gorge.

Besides, the wider notch lapels and slightly lower than "high gorge" is creeping back in. Recent Tom Ford jacket I picked up pretty much matches the look of that Brioni albeit having wider lapels.

Enjoy the Brioni jacket it is a nice conservative piece and it would look crazy with skinny high gorge lapels.

If i didn't have SUPER LONG arms I would cop that up so fast :/ Made in Ireland

So today I found a vintage pin-striped wool Yves Saint Laurent 3 piece suit. Does anyone know really if they are worth picking up? (in terms of quality?) I haven't ever seen the label besides in orphan suit coats but this was the whole set for a decent price. Should I go back for it?

 

FWIW, I have a linen cardigan and it's actually quite nice. Linen doesn't add much/any warmth. I've found its great for mid 70's days when I would like to wear something besides a button down and chinos to work but don't want to sweat.

I'm not sure what's considered good in terms of item hunting, but I found a somewhat decent pair of sperry's today for $5.30.

They need some cleaning (I'm thinking of buying some refurbishing supplies for shoes I'll be buying), but I think they'll work fine for when the summer comes. That gives me two sperry's now :)

 

 

 

 

 

What I still need to find/buy:

More long-sleeved shirts

A cardigan or peacoat

A full suit (or two)

Decent penny loafers and oxfords

 

I found some loafers which fit today, but they had full rubber soles, which disinterested me...I'm not sure if I should've grabbed em though.

I'll take those Brions all day long....left an easy $400-600 smackers on the racks imo. Any Brioni in good condition is $100-$150 without much effort.

 

Shawl-collar midnight blue is SO in right now b/c of the James Bond, but I'd prob still leave it unless you had someone in mind before buying it. I've bought a number of Brooks Brother and Hickey Freeman Tux's and they all sold fast and for decent money.

 

CT.... dont even look at those anymore (actually just check them for metal collar stays and move on)
