Super super excited to brag about this pickup off ebay. Would I prefer a 7.5 vs an 8, yes (beggars cant be choosers), BUT glad the seller didnt really know what he had.

"glove leather Opera Pumps have been worn many times" = more like have been worn maybe a half dozen times and are in kick ass condition
"These shoes would have originally sold for around $350" = more like $600+ but whos counting.

Best part is with a thin pad and/or thick socks these are going to work amazing for the few times I wear a Tux!!! SOO excited right now.

Only things left for my Tux are a waistcoat (impossible impossible impossible to find) and a Grosgrain bow tie which I'll prob have to have custom made (and cost more then the damn shoes) as I want a pointed end one and no one seems to make a black grosgrain pointed end bow tie puzzled.gif

PS - Anyone have a custom bow tie made before? If so any references would be great.

Brian, I believe I've read that The Cordial Churchman (http://www.thecordialchurchman.com/) will do it, and her prices seem very reasonable. Guiseppe at An Affordable Wardrobe did a review I think.

Brianpore: I had a custom bow tie made from a destroyed Hermes tie at the Cordial Churchman. It cost less than $30. Give them a try.

Maybe I could buy it and turn it into a scarf or two, maybe a mini-sweater for my camera on cold nights of landscape shooting. (No haz gunz, so no need for ammo bag).

Pretty good day today

AE Byrons

AE San Marco

Zegna Tie

Unicorns Size 34 Flannel

Incredible Paul Stuart jacket - 100% silk, double vented, MOP buttons, 44L

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

And my favorite - vintage 100% wool sweater made in the UK. Suede elbow and shoulder patches. A bit beat up but fits me perfectly and will be perfect for layering under a coat to keep well warm.

Today was a good day down at the thrift store, I decided to hit an area where no one I know stops at so i had high hopes, whilst waiting patiently for my buddy to call to meet up I uncovered :

Lululemon Men's RUN.DRY.WET Grey workout shirt

Vietnam Era Army Soldier dark green suit

Helmut Lang button up shirt

Paul Smith  floral tie; Made in england

I will post pictures if I have time to tonight. juggling 5 things at once and need to start studying for my certification in a few weeks!!

Can someone explain what unicorn means with regard to Zanella pants? Thanks... #n00b4Lyfe
post #61121 of 118021

Ahh yes, the ever elusive flat-front Zanella trousers.

not pleated, they are very rare since most zanellas have 4-10 pleats

Hrm, when I "almost" found you a tux I found another one, shawl-collar midnight blue in a larger size (I'm guessing like a 44? didn't bother looking at the size or measuring since I was on a mission.)  Was like $38, though.  Wondering if I should go back for it? Someone here in the low-mid '40s sizing want one or should have one at a little higher than thrift prices?  Not really into flipping, but maybe if someone (Brian?) wants me to proxy and split profits... Don't know.  There was a dated Zegna peak-lapel dinner jacket too, but it was paired with random pants.  Sigh.  I think I'm finally reaching that point after the initial noob-craze of picking up everything you think is good and tradeable, to now being extremely wary of picking up a CT shirt in a tradeable size that is pink plaid (happened yesterday).

Holy shit, super-tempted.  I'm confused, though; it's a cardigan, but it's linen.  In case you have a chilly summer eve outside?  Maybe on a boat?  [trying to justify]
