biggrin.gif, I knew Uncle Nat would be proud...

I did learn that they are being made again in Japan (since 2005) by an avid Rocky Mtn Featherbed collector who "re-opened" the business.

Was doubly pleased so find that this one is from the original company...and I have yet to find another instance of this specific color combination.

Congrats! I love it when I'm able to do that!

I've gotten into the mode of scanning the pants racks for pinstripe, plaid, nailhead, or any other pants that suggest they were part of a suit, grabbing several of them, then trying to find their matching jackets. I've always felt that I'm more likely to find orphaned jackets than orphaned pants so starting with the pants makes the job easier. That's the theory, anyway.

Had a pretty good day. And a pretty good yesterday, too.

At lunch I popped into the thrift store down the block and found these. From left to right: John Varvatos made in Italy; unknown made in France (see teaser for the tag; any ideas would be welcomed!); Atelson Collection super 130s (anyone know this brand?); and my very first Zanella unicorn. All of these are about an inch too small in the waist for me; thus, they strengthen my resolve to drop more poundage. In other words, not available. At least for now, while I'm still optimistic. Interestingly, they're tagged with different sizes (US35, EU50, EU48, and EU44) but all have been altered to about a 34" waist and it shows in the amount of fabric available to let out.

The best part is that it was half-price-clothes day, so the total for all four came to $8.48.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Anyone recognize this French tag?

Likewise, anyone know this label?

My first FF Zanella:

Yesterday I found this chocolate brown corduroy RRL at the same little store. Not available. When I first saw it, I thought it was missing a sleeve button, then discovered it had working buttons. Dang. Working sleeve buttons in a corduroy jacket? Cool.

Found the next three jackets at the local GW:

BB blue houndstooth check, not available:

Canali, also not available:

BB dark blue linen jacket, tagged 46R, available:

Today was another great day of finds, but again just barely not my size stuff. Boo, anyone wanna trade? Huh, huh?

(all available)
Canali Proposta overcoat (54L EU)
2x John W. Nordstrom made w/ Loro Piana 100% cashmere (one 43L, one untagged)
Pal Zileri (54 EU)
Harvie & Hudson (14x32)
... and some BB pants for me (unavailable)
Canali (Click to show)

Nordstrom / Loro Piana cashmere (Click to show)

Pal Zileri (Click to show)

Harvie & Hudson (Click to show)

The Loro Pianas are so soft, wish they fit. And at least I can kinda wear the Canali (not over a suit but as a more casual but awesome coat) until someone snatches it up. PM away!

I ran across this label today, where does it fit for quality? Union made in the US, blue tag.

^^ double post for dramatic effect. It is a nice down vest but I don't see myself spending that type of money for it. That's why we thrift!

If it's US made, I'm guessing it's a woman's piece. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think RLPL has any US makers.  I know I've seen "Purple label" women's clothes with that same signature script before that were of lower quality, so that's my thought process.

picked up some things I never saw before.
Filson cotton unconstructed jacket with throat latch working cuffs-but sewn up (not vintage but cool nonetheless),
rag and bones shirt,
a couple nice cashmere sweaters,
zanellas and incotex zegna, varvatos floral shirt, and
NWOT gap selvedge jeans (I hate that on ebay but these are seriously unworn)

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

That's the "Signature" blue label. IIRC, it was the predecessor to RLBL/RLPL and is decent but nothing near RLPL. I've seen it before and have always passed.

^^^ I've got an orphaned pinstriped suit jacket with that blue script label. Horn buttons, double-vented, high quality, made in USA. It's my understanding this label was the precursor to RLPL.
