First post, long-time viewer. I found this Versace 3 button jacket and I wanted to know whether it is real and how old it is, so I suppose Spoo would be most knowledgeable if he's around, but anyone please feel free to chime in. Thanks everyone.

Im going to try and do my best on this one, only cause Bri put me on the spot : Gianni Versace black label couture - highest level of construction at the time of production. Its from the AW2001 collection (I THINK), if not SS02. The jacket was part of a suit, so you might want to check for the pants. Its totally sellable as an odd jacket, if you plan to sell. Its made by Alias, Spa, which was the factory that produced most of the better made garments at the time. The other factory was Inco, which produced white label GV garments until about 2004 when Versace couture was moved to be made by Zegna, and the white label (although some examples this year are made by Zegna too) is made by Alias. The director of the couture department at Versace is Luigi Massi, whom I featured in a video on my blog here. He is a charming man, talented as the day is long, and enjoys a nice Limoncello on the terrace of 1 via Gesu after a long days work. His favorite material to work with is the fabric that Gianni Versace invented, which is called "Oroton", otherwise known as metal mesh. Many assume that its a standard Whiting & Davis metal mesh, however, Gianni reworked this fabric to be more liquid and warm faster to the body when worn. But, I digress. The jacket is nice, should sell well. If you list it on eBay, use the title "Mens Gianni Versace Couture 1st Line $2000 Jacket Coat Blazer XX(size) Blue". On a good day with good shots, Id say you will get $90-$125 for it, which will be a pretty good haul if you scored it for under a 20 somewhere.

Thank you so much for all of the information you provided me....It was tagged as $10.00 but everything in the store was half off today (store anniversary) so I paid $5.00. I will take your advice and go look for the pants tomorrow!!!

Haha. I love this thread, I can't get enough! I am just saying, some of you guys can spot that a jacket is a Corneliani and give the exact date of the garment down to the second when it has no content tags or labels...but this is clearly authentic!!!

Interesting week. Very busy so dropping in to the local store few minutes as I pass. Got gold plated tigereye cufflinks first, then couple of BB reps in new condition (and I wear these a lot), then eBay gold a JPress 3/2 hopsack blazer 40-41ish, then my first Kenzo homme tie likely never worn, then my first RLPL sports shirt L, then finally today first a Burberry for Saks suit again 41-42, followed up by my first DB Brioni, and SB flannel Brioni same size. Left a pair of Canadian made Kilgour SF suits, same size. Sorry no time for pics, maybe next week.

Ok day for me. Only made 3 stops and came up with the following:

E Zegna spread collar shirt. Tagged 17.5 x 44. French cuffs. All white. Tentatively not available since I’d like to try to remove the slight pit stains with the oxy method.

G. Armani Trousers. 38”x 36” inseam. Very substantial feeling fabric. Tag has worn off, but feels like a wool blend. Flat front. Has the rubber thing on the waist. 2 maybe 3 fabric pulls, but I think they can be pulled in from the inside. Available.

Canali Trousers. 44”x 30.5” inseam. Pick stitching throughout(!). Cuffed. 100% wool. Dbl pleats. Available.

T&A shirt. Tagged 17-43cm. French cuffs. I’d say the sleeve is 37”. Shoulder seam to end of sleeve is 26.5”. Available.

E. Zegna tie. This is a keeper.

Hyden Yoo Pants. 100% cotton. Twill (?). Black. Flat front. Tagged as a 36” waist, but there is no center seam in the back. Gotta figure out of a way to take them up at the waist(?). Inside pockets are the same check pattern you see in pix. I think I’m keeping these.

Fratelli is often abbreviated like that in Italy so my non-expert opinion is that they are real.

I haven't been thrifting too much lately, since I've been needing to catch up on schoolwork. I have some tricks up my sleeve starting Friday, but until then I suspect you guys may feel this way...

In other news: I decided to check out this Marshalls craze...

Sure enough, I found 3 Kiton Sport Coats, 4 Brioni Shirts, and 3 Corneliani suits.... All priced around market value.....

one thing i keep noticing: every time i see PINK shirts (and i see a lot of them), they almost always have light fraying on the tips of the collar. not sure if this says more about their quality or about the buying/donating habits of the original purchasers. anyone else notice that with PINK?

I notice that with a lot of shirts at thrifts, SF approved brands or otherwise. . Collars and cuffs. The stiffer they are, the more fraying, since instead of bending, the edge of the collar/cuff/placket rubs in the laundry. The tips of the collar will be the first to go, and many people donate 'em then. It's particularly awful when the shirt in question has been starched frequently by a bad dry cleaner who uses the stuff that's essentially watered down elmer's glue.

A couple things yesterday.

These were from last week, but they were shown hiding behind two other pairs of shoes

I also picked up a couple other things not shown.
A pair of Herman Survivors Boots...size 10 I think.
A pair of Faconnable Chinos (for Nordstrom) 36...super soft, with sort of a micro pin cord fabric.
A hand carved wooden folding planter stand, appears to be very old, but has no distinguishable markings.
A real alligator head, about 6" with red glass marble eyes. Kinda crazy to pick up at the thrift, but well worth the flip. (Photos Later)
