$7 each for suit hangers, and they work great for me.

Edit: cheers.gif Org. I usually try to keep mine on the ones with the wider arms, to give the shoulders some support. I probably had 50 lying around from when I worked in the industry. But that's nowhere near the amount I need now. shog[1].gif So basically current season gets the good hangers, and offseason makes do with the standard wooden hangers.

Also: REPENT! THRIFT THREAD SIXTY THOUSAND IS AT HAND! THE DAY OF RECKONING IS LIKELY ... TOMORROW! OR MAYBE SUNDAY! NOT SURE YET ... CHECK BACK WITH ME AROUND NOON TOMORROW.

SORRY FOR SHOUTING!

Another pure brag.

There's a shitty SA by me that never has much. Once in a while it'll have some eBay grist but its mostly filled with street folk using clothing vouchers. I stop in once a week or so because its on one of my routes. Today:

I found this gorgeous older Samuelsohn charcoal herringbone with velvet collar coat. Unfortunately, it looks like it got caught in something because there are a couple tears at the bottom. It's tagged a 39 Tall and available for cost. It should be easy to fix by having it shortened about 2".

First of all....

I finally have internet in my apartment!

We moved in and have most of the boxes emptied. I still have quite a few projects that will need to be finished, but at least we finally have most of it done.

Non-thrift rant... Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Our old landlord, on the other hand, is making things a real pain in the ass. He's an awful man who still runs his rather large real estate firm in his 80s. He is withholding part of our security deposit because we didn't paint the place white. It's law that it's the owner's responsibility to do that as it's seen as normal wear and tear. We even spoke to a lawyer today who confirmed the fact. They said it would go to arbitration and we'd likely win. However, that could take a while and we'd want a lawyer there as he'd have one. I decided to settle and just pay it (€400) to have it repainted (he'll no longer allow me to do the work) and he said that he's also charging us for light bulbs and these cheap hanging light fixtures (around €1-2 each). They never existed in the first place. Until I could get a tall enough ladder to install fixtures (around 4m walls), we had to use lamps. Finally, he said he is having his lawyer send us a registered letter with a bill on Monday and that "if you're smart, you'll pay it without contesting it." Unbelievable.

I know I have a pile of PMs to get to, so I'll try to get back to you ASAP if you've sent me something without a proper response!

I found a couple of things this week, including a couple of things that don't often turn up around here (I think). I'm still setting up my office/photo area, so I apologize for the quick shots.

First up, and a first for me, a pair of Vass. I have waited to find them and finally hit on a pair. I hope more turn up after this one.

A pair of Hackett London khaki pants. They have a lot of characteristics from Incotex, but the tag says "Made in Europe." I've never seen that on Incotexes before, though it usually implies Romania/Poland/Bulgaria, so it could still be made by Incotex.

A pair of ugly Etro shirts.

I felt this jacket and immediately thought "cashmere!" I opened it and saw H&M and was surprised. I checked the content tag anyway and sure enough, it was 100% cashmere. I bought it and when I looked at it at home, I noticed the 100% camelhair tag inside. I thought I must have misread "camelhair" as "cashmere" in my haste. I checked again and it definitely says both 100% cashmere on the content tag and 100% camelhair inside the jacket. I'm fairly sure it's cashmere, but I've never known H&M to produce cashmere jackets. Any clues??

I'm going to need some help verifying this one. I thought it was legit in the store and now I'm not 100%. I've read all of the guides in both English (lots of the same) and German (not many), but I still can't decide. Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

I'd like to say a big THANK YOU to Xenos for his generosity. He drew my name in secret santa, and I have to say that it was a bit awkward informing him directly that he has to buy me a gift satisfied.gif However, he sent me so much and sent it Priority mail here that he went above and beyond. Apparently, it arrived in mid-December and I didn't receive a notification from the Post saying that it was waiting for me. I finally checked (a second time) and they had it. Thanks again, Xenos, I really love everything!

One thing I've noticed is that there seems to be a difference between tailoring and home-sewing, even just in how to use a thimble. Makes me cautious about what technique I'm learning (but I'm a persnickety sort).

This video was in a link posted earlier and he mentions Reader's Digest specifically. Don't mean to harsh on your find, but something to think about if you want to get into alterations.

I know J Crew is not SF approved but I somehow got their 30% off sale item to stack a couple times. Ordered about 600+ of stuff yesterday for $87 and got a confirmation of my order shipping today. Will see what happens. Even without stacking they have some decent stuff pretty cheap after code entered.
