Some stuff over the past couple of weeks - most of this is going to the bay to help pay for engagement ring I just purchased from Stitches - and all the crap we just bought for our house. I did end up keeping a few items. If you see something that is a must have maybe we can work something out.

So,

I no longer reside in LA.

However,

I had to pick some stuff up in LA today, so I made a trip.

I stopped in one store to test my luck.

I'll take the money I save by thrifting and spend it on a meal at a good restaurant, nice gift for my girl or clothing item I want but am almost guaranteed not to find at a thrift (SW&D comes to mind), but somehow I feel if I ever spent $25 on a hanger I'd have to get 'sucker' tattooed on my forehead.

I know, I know... "some of us like to spend our money on good food or travel, some of us like to spend it on pieces of wood that sit in our closets, and who are you to judge?"

I quite enjoyed what our friend Giuseppe had to say about the Hanger Project: http://anaffordablewardrobe.blogspot.ca/2009/02/gourmet-hangers.html

In my closet, there's no such thing as a 'staple' tie. Every tie is generally worn with the same frequency as the others, which is to say almost never. I can't speak for others here, but I wear ties so rarely that I don't even find myself bothering to look through the rack at thrifts half the time, and I often don't even pay attention to all the awesome ones you guys post.

Having said that, it is a nice tie for a good price, and that deserves some props.

It is a 46R, has a little bit of wear around crotch...the taint - to be specific. Not sure how that happens...but at least it's completely out of sight.

I hear ya dude. I love taking my big thrift savings roll on SW&D binges and nice restaurants as well, but I also like to take care of the clothes that I have.

As a big dude with big shoulders this means getting appropriately fitting longer hangers otherwise I will get super weird bulges in the middle of the shoulders from the garment hanging over time. I don't buy those nice hangers because I am somehow fooled into thinking they are better than ikea hangers but because very few other places actually offer large sized wooden hangers that won't fall apart right away. This is akin to putting in a larger shoe tree in your shoes.

I have a feeling you'll make one trip a month back...and still scoop up all the best stuff. I've seen you in action, and I still don't know how you do it.

Can we share? How about you take the next 7 months, then when I'm off work again, it can be my turn.
