Yea, figured. Working cuff buttons drew me in, big badass jackets with that fabric got me super excited, but no joy. Would've doubled my suit wardrobe if this Ben R. was 2 sizes smaller. tongue.gif

Note: If you're not from NY/NJ/PA/CT and are under 30 you will clearly not get this.

Looks great and good luck! What type of a position are you applying?

Still without internet here, thank God for my iphone. I'll post some pictures/questions after the guy comes tomorrow and (hopefully) hooks us up!

My guess is that some people think they can get away with it because it's "not a real store". On the same note, many thrift stores I've been to around here, especially the tiny charities, have big problems with shoplifting. Maybe they confuse "cheap" with "free", or they decide that the elderly volunteers who run the place won't care. Probably some interesting behavioral economics going on here.

The basic problem is that the thieves know that mosts thrift stores have little to no security (I visited one place -Thrift Town in San Francisco- that actually had a security guard). Most are incredibly easy to steal from, and yeah, a lot of the employees don't care, much like most retail establishments (can you tell I used to work in retail as a peon first and then in management?). Unless the shops can afford security or cameras, the problem will not get better. It'll still be damned near impossible catching people stealing buttons in the fitting rooms, unless you pay someone enough to check every single item that goes into and out of the fitting rooms.

Had a pretty cold thrifting day today, but saw a good condition Sanyo full length raincoat. Raglan construction, removable lining, 100% cotton outer, appeared very well made.  Was tagged 36R and fit well generally (I wear a 38L usually), but the sleeves were at least 6 inches too short for me.  I have no idea who is that tall but wears a ~20" sleeve length, shoulder to cuff.  Bizarre.

At any rate, is Sanyo stuff worth picking up for eBay?  Should I go back for this thing?

[edit]:  just backlogged and saw Eazy's post.  Apologies for the redundant question.

It sounds like you found the T-Rex jacket.

Still vaguely fuming about dem Loro Piana coats. Would've loved to have em for myself if they just fit. Badass grey herringbone, black with a quiet purple windowpane... Ah well, directed my dad (bigger than me) there, he may try em out. Also left behind a Lorenzini (2nd time seeing it in a week), collar was mangled beyond belief. Few small buys, all for myself, all unavailable.

Shirt: Vineyard Vines
Ties (L-R): BB Makers, PRL, HSM Gold Trumpeteer, Hildritch & Key

Always wanted to try a VV shirt, and this was (1) in my size, (2) super crispy minty fresh (yet oddly not in the 'boutique' section or otherwise marked up like NWOT quality clothes often are), and (3) good looking. The H&K has one small bit of semi-noticeable damage to the front, but not too bad and couldn't pass it up for 2 bucks.
