Is there a good story that accompanies the destruction?

I mostly just got it because it's a really nice serviceable trench.  They have a fairly high retail price ($700+ for their current trench that compares to the one I picked up) and it's very well made, but after looking at ebay completeds, I doubt they're huge flipping moneymakers.  I just can't always control myself when I find something that's pretty well-made, even if it doesn't resell well.  My closet full of Zegna shirts and Pal Zileri/Paul Stuart SCs can speak to this.  blush.gif

What's the deal with things like hangers and shoe trees?  With the exception of some loafers I found with shoe trees in them which I purchased as one item, I've not been able to procure closet supplies when thrifting.  My last time out I found a nice wooden jacket hanger and asked about acquiring it, but I was made aware of the "hanger drought" that kept it in use on the store's racks.  This is especially difficult for me as I need hangers with a narrower shoulder span, since my jacket shoulders are <17".    So, did these come with the jacket purchases, did you buy them separately, or do both occur?  I know shoe trees can be found separately, but I've not heard of hangers being purchased (or found) separately.

Keep looking.  I've picked up mine at various thrift stores -- they put clothes out on plastic hangers and sell the wooden ones for 50 cents each.

I walk out of a shop with a buddy of mine when I hear my name called from across the parking lot. None other than S_allen_P, who had a little something for me in his car in MY SIZE... Mad props to this man. Nom De Guerre ready and waiting for you sir, though it's no comparison.

Mad, mad shout outs to this man. (Click to show)

Thick, thick, thick buttons that are knurled on the top edge and rock the claw stitch... and I think hand sewn button holes right?

Hand attached collar

Yeah it's pink. Do I care? Hell no, this thing is insane, and now I know what all the commotion is about.

Around the corner to the next shop, and I hear my name being called again, this time by the friend I was there with. He's holding up these, also in my size. Well what I assumed was my size (12E), as I hadn't found any to try, and I knew EEE was too wide. Needless to say, also not available.

Booyah (Click to show)

Totally worth the $15 in my opinion. Think I can still sneak some toe taps on?

They aren't shell. They aren't brown. But what they are is pretty sweet. No cuts or gnarly scuffs of any sort. Just normal wear. I'm really looking forward to bringing these back to life, even though they aren't totally dead to begin with. Time for some Renovateur...

I didn't pick this up tonight because, well it was $30 and I live in California, I'd probably never find an appropriate time to break it out. Wish I would have shot the tags, it was made in Italy for Barney's 100% wool (already wearing the AE's here haha).

The somewhat deal breaker for me is that on the lining there was a small stain where the lining was stuck to the coat, right at "tip" height.facepalm.gif

Current status of the champagne room at the local G dub

There's easily another two feet of height I didn't capture here. Promise Mountain.

I know that particular GW very well. It was like that on my last visit. My mind went crazy thinking of what treasures were hiding in that pile. biggrin.gif

In dry spell lately. Been super slow. These made my day, though. Both my size and NWT to boot!

I've got smaller shoulders too. Instead of waiting for nice broad wooden hangers to show up that are also meant for smaller jackets, I just buy whatever big ones I can get my hands on. I figure I can cut off the excess width and hit the rough ends with a rasp and sandpaper. Good ones are still hard to come by though.

And I need the opposite- bigger hangers, but I can't afford to buy Hanger Project stuff. First world problems.
