The official thrift/discount store bragging thread - Page 3858

Decent start to the week. There's a Salvation Army about a block from work so I stop in a few times a week on my lunch break.

Saw this and wish it was a medium...XL so passed on it

But did pick up a tartan wool blanket by Ayers Mills in Quebec, Canada and a goretex MEC rain jacket

Went in today at lunch and found a mint pair of Church's Pembrey loafers in chocolate suede with rubber soles. 2 leather inserts ins each shoe so insoles are pristine and obviously wasn't worn much because they were too big for the previous owner. 8G so 9 wide and gifting these to my pops so N/A.

Went out again after work to see if I could find something to pay for everything else and just ended up spending more for me. Patagonia synchilla shell bomber jacket in M which fits me like a glove so N/A

My other rain bucket is cheap tweed from China and as soon as I saw this I grabbed it from under a pile of garbage. Perfect fit.

Living in Canada you can't have enough tuques, especially vintage ones made in Scotland from 100% sexy wool

Finally, I'm typically a Nike dri fit or Patagonia athletic gear guy but have heard a lot about the quality of the Lululemon apparel so when I spotted this full zip I grabbed it. Size large and potentially available.

Solid first impression, no visible branding (only on zipper pull) and supposed to be more durable than any other performance gear (Nike, Adidas, UA etc.)

It's happened to me twice. First time, the other shoe was in the kids section so it worked out. The second time I tore the store apart and couldn't find it, came back a few days later and they were paired up but the other shoe had a hole in the upper so left it.

As for frequency of finding Chruch's in the wild, not sure why but I've actually found more pairs of Church's (7) than I have AE (2) and Alden's (0) combined.

I assume you dudes thought to ask at the front desk whether they were holding one of the shoes to make sure no one stole them, right?

Sorry man that Lululemon is fake. I see loads of it around here with no branding except on zips etc. Also, look how angular the logo is compared to the real logo:

No, it's real. I have a hoodie that was purchased in the store several years ago that has the angled logo on the zip. I think they changed the logo slightly on more recent pieces. I know for a fact the reason many pieces have no branding is because they are a very minimalistic brand. Their label is a long, rectangular thing that screams "remove me". A lot of people do. Besides the label that most people remove, the only other branding is a small reflective or tonal colored logo placed somewhere on the garment.

Don't think Lulu is faked....yet.

It is mid-weight but not tight woven, Light and airy somewhat. Quality of the fabric and the stitching seems to be better than new Gitmans. Wonder if overall the quality has been an issue or the fabric.

I would have been all over this to flip on Ebay. Great piece. Not for my taste but I am sure someone would fall in love with it! (just saying)

Whoa! seriously? It never even occurred to me that they'd fake lulu for dudes. But looking at the sweater now, I see where you're coming at with the angled "circle" around the logo BUT if it is a fake, they did not skimp on the details. It is a heavy weight cotton, all interior stitching and hems are nicely finished, there is an interior coin pocket in the kangaroo pouch, metal grommets used for pit venting and 3 branded studs at the back (neck area) of the jacket. However the maker and care tags have been cut out.

Either way it is seems to be better constructed than my Nike or Champion sweats, side by side.

Easy way to figure out if it's real or not is to bring it to a lulu store and ask. I'll try and stop by tomorrow. Worst case scenario it's a solid fake and I've got a beater sweater for $3.

Thanks for the heads up.

^^^ See my post above. That's not a fake.

I know right. A month ago it would be perfect for ugly sweater parties but they'll all be done by the time the auction would end. Plus I've already got a stack of items to list on the bay as it is and they were asking $15 which was way over priced for a thrift sweater.

Nice, glad to get your input on the situation. The garment is definitely top notch in terms of athletic gear so i'd be surprised if boot leggers were trying to fake lulu dudes with such quality pieces.

They have started to fake the ladies yoga pants because they're so expensive and in high demand but there isn't a big enough market for the guys to justify fakes i think...yet.

So have you been passing on legit lulu gear thinking that it's fake all this time???
