Nice! Glad you are putting them to good use. biggrin.gif

I can see why you keep wearing the Nettletons. They are pretty awesome.

Apologies for the slop on the collar (one in one out), this was after services, a trip to the store, and kid wrangling in and out of car. One one hand, shoulda checked myself in a mirror before I wrecked myself. OTOH, this represents real life, I'm not one of those SF catalog model wannabes who like the wistful looks sitting by the seaside hahahahaha. I is what I is.

  • jacket: Hugo Boss (Loro Piana wool/cashmere) thrifted
  • shirt: Red Camel (WTF is that? Only seen it this once, does it go with a dep't store? I like the shirt, it's OK) thrifted
  • tie: J Crew wool
  • pocket square: hand rolled Italian of some stripe
  • sweater vest: BB merino, outlet
  • pants: lined unbranded thick wool micro-houndstooth, must have gone with an ancient suit, thrifted
  • shoes: Vintage split toe Nettleton alligator, which I seem to wear for every fit pic (not on purpose), ebay
  • sox: Shoulda worn Mox C's pantherellas he sent instead of these (meh)

Wow that sweater vest/pocket square is like they were made for eachother! Love the Nettleton alligator's too. A consignment shop in my area had a pair for $160 I was awaiting them to get lower so maybe next time I go back I could obtain them :). This is very very cool. I wanna see what you are going to thrift fit on Christmas nod[1].gif

icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gifThis is the greatest thrift/discount post I have seen in a while, I wish I had was financially able to do what you are doing. Passed on some crazy stuff at a discount high-end shop that I really am kicking myself for. Kiton half cashmere, thrift right???? RIGHT?

I shed a tear when this did not fit as it was oh so close BUT it should be good trade material or help pay for my (soon to be ordered if i cant find anything) tux.

I dont use this often when thrifting, but from my experience it is NWOT. Shoulder basting is still intact.

Edit - Forgot to upload the last picture of size tag

Also picked up these two. Another Donegal (hope the last one is being worn well by a forum member icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif) and this BB Loro Piana for myself, kid sized 18 but fits perfect.

Brooks Brothers Oprah Shoes Sz 9.
Found an exact pair like these:

Good buy at $20? Made by Peal and Co? Can anyone confirm? Flipable?

Pass. I found that same suit at $1 and sold it for maybe $12 on ebay. Not worth the hassle.

With that in mind I found a LEGO Vikings chess set that apparently retails for $130, paid $30:

Into the shoe fund it goes.

For myself I didn't really find too much, a NWT Brooks Brothers tie:

On to stuff I found that I can't use, I found this orphan and grabbed it anyway. Rookie mistake?

Brooks Bros. Madison 38r, available:

Donna Karen Signature made in Italy. I know DKNY is lower end, so I took a chance here. Is DK Signature an older line? Unworn, pockets still sewn shut. 40r 33 pants. Available

London Fog leather jacket, not sure if these are worth anything really, but it's in great shape. I might keep it.

Finally, the nicest thing I've found so far. New looking Canali, kind of weird because one pocket is still sewn shut, other pockets still have uncut threads: 38r jacket, 32/31 pants. I'm not thrilled about selling something this decent on eBay, so I'll make it available for a couple of days if anyone is interested.

Bumping this because I'm new and it got buried, and I wanted to add a question. Is there a guide beyond just checking eBay on when to buy orphan jackets? Could that Brooks Bros. gray jacket be worn casually with jeans or is that a total no?

yup and I got it on half of day so it was $4.50 I hope that is enough to secure me in 3000th place for the cheapies bigstar[1].gif

My two small finds for the day, a pair of SEE made in Italy polarized tortoise shell sunglasses. Not a perfect replacement for the vintage Wayfarers I lost over the summer, but pretty close. They definitely have some "heft" to them. N/A

I have been looking for a nice bread maker for awhile now. I didn't want a shitty Chinese made one, which the thrift stores seem to be teeming with, but today I stumbled on this guy. Made in West Bend, not too far from my hometown, still with the instructions. $6! I've got some cheese bread going as we speak.

Spoo, you should have grabbed that couch, insta-sexy.
