Styleforum Top Picks
As I'm new this got posted late several pages back. Would love some opinions and advice on some of this stuff.
Stuff from the past few days. Some of these are things I don't know too much about, so information and advice about picking it up in the future would be greatly appreciated.
3 TM Lewin 17.5 All French Cuffed (All Available)
Gant- Are these ever worth picking up? I know its from the standard line, but for $3 are these worth it? Do they flip at all? (Available if anyone wants it)
2 Ascot Changs- Collar button issues but easy fixes. Don't have sizes but I'll do measurements later. (Both Available)
Zegna 17/XL (Available)
CT 18 Slim Fit (Available)
Older Burberry's Shirt 16- (Available)
CT 16 1/2 (Available)
Pal Zileri 16 1/2 - (Available)
Woolrich Medium- I don't know much about Woolrich so any education would be helpful. How old is this tag? I love the motif so not available for now.
Terrible terrible picture, but Pendleton Green/Blue Tartan Plaid Blazer. No size and haven't done measurements yet, but fits my 40 frame big, so likely 42 or so. (Available)
Robert Graham 40R- I hate almost everything he does, but can't help but love this jacket. Appears to be brand new, cropped sleeves, $5.
Lacoste Izod Canary Yellow- Not available
Les Copains 100% cashmere sweater Made in Italy. I don't know anything about this brand so info would be much appreciated. Figured that at $3.50 I couldn't go wrong. Are 100% cashmere sweaters something that should always be picked up? Is this a brand that should be picked up? Not available for now.
Womens Burberry Trench 12 Extra Long with lining (Available)
Woolrich Buffalo Plaid Jacket sz Large- Again any info on Woolrich is appreciated.
Ties and Shoes:
Allen Edmonds 10.5 D Niles (Not sure if these are available)
Robert Talbott and TM Lewin Ties- Are either of these worth picking up?
Thanks for the help and opinions guys, I'm still new to this.
The standard answer to your question is - go back and read the thread. You will see almost all of the brands you posted discussed at some length. Having said that...
Lewin, Gant, Tyrwhitt are fine for you, not much flip value. Zegna and Pal Zileri are higher quality, but the Zegna is pretty old and can be hit or miss to sell and Zileri doesn't have much name recognition outside of SF.
Ties are old, AE shoes are nice, Burberry trench is from the pre 1999 line but could have resale value. Pendletons look good.
I believe the "John Rich and Bros" is from a more desirable Woolrich line.
Robert Graham flips, and I would imagine tailored pieces would do better, but that looks actually wearable which would seem to hurt its resale value.
In general, nothing groundbreaking, nothing too horrible. Now get to reading.
Holy crap! Wtg, bytor! Grendel.
Sorry, should have been more clear. New Gant = Good, THAT Gant = Bad. Although the original, old school Gant was good at one time, right? It's just the stuff in the middle that is generally not worth picking up.
Cotton Dockers- Thanks so much for the advice/opinions. I've been reading this thread for a while now, so I had a good understanding of most of that but how it does flipping wise is something that isn't always discussed so I appreciate that. Also the Gant Old vs. New info is helpful as well.
I'm mostly interested if anyone knows anything of Les Copanes. I'm assuming its a fairly standard brand, but was wondering if it had any reputation on here.
Thrift fit from a '20s themed party last night. (Click to show)
You look good as well, Orge!
Seriously, you both look fabulous.
I think a lot of this stuff is great. I'll gladly take that Lewin tie off your hands. And I'd do the same if those Lewin shirts were 18+s rather than 17.5s. And I like that sweater too, brand name or not.
