Oi, that definitely sounds cheaper than I've ever heard for reweaving! I have one garment with a very large rewoven patch, and it's flawless. Was probably quite expensive to reweave, but you really can't tell where it is unless you look on the wrong side (it's an unlined jacket so it's obvious from the inside). Currently my "reweaving" pile consists of a Kiton cashmere sc - which is worth the money to do it right - and a Samuelsohn suit, which isn't a high priority. I do expect to pay as much for the reweaving on the Kiton as I paid for the jacket, which wasn't much really, but will still hurt. May send it out to Chicago or something, finding a local reweaver has been daunting.
Man, darning sweaters can be fun, but at 5 bucks I might have someone else do it!
I don't know if it would even be worth it to re-weave worsted wool pants 'cuz 90% sure it'll show and won't look good. I only have luck re-weaving sweaters and even then the only time it looks 100% is when the pattern is a solid or at the very least heathered solid. I pay $10 / hole, but have gotten away with $5 / hole if the holes are small. There's some Russians who do a great job in Cambridge, MA if you're in the Boston / Cambridge / Somerville area.
