The official thrift/discount store bragging thread - Page 3776

Picked through lots of stuff today but no great finds. The stores were so crowded here it was insane.

I did manage to get one oddity. Its a pair of Drybak hunting pants from the 50's. What drew me to them was the label touting the "NEW" Talon 42 zipper. 100% Cotton with a vinyl covering parts of them.

Also got the goofy Levi Panatella's. I fall for anything pre-90's and Levis. Luckily I found 4 or 5 pairs of Levi's 501 from the 1980's and a NOS pair of Womens Levi Cords from 1978

Struck out on 3 stops today. Found my first pair of Churchs but the back looked like this:

Did pick up one bonkers item, however.  44 R 3/2 roll PRL Made in Italy tweedy with throat latch and hacking pocket.  Said pocket and one other front pocket are still basted shut.  Doesn't fit me, so very available.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

That's badass!

Edit: I'm not at all informed vintage outerwear, so that was the reason I left it. They have a no returns policy, so I didn't want to get stuck with it if it ended up being a dud. Lesson learned. Thanks guys.

I know it's been said, but damn that thing is sweet. I've been wearing my brown label NF puffer I picked up a couple months ago as much as the weather has permitted, one of my favorite finds to date. They just don't make them like that anymore. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

I would have picked them up, and if they are a UK 8 I'd ask for a proxy :)

Very fine automotive sandpaper (1k-2k+ grit), fiebings black leather dye, and a layer of creme/wax melted in with a lighter will work wonders.  You won't have the same grain structure in that area but unless someone is examining your shoes up close no one should notice.

Are your sure that's not a NES 001?  Could already be worth a fortune....

Of all the things mentioned in the last few posts, it's the NES that grabs you!? ChetBakerSings and 330CK just pulled a DM7/EddieVeder!

Yes, I know they are valuable, but still! I guess I never got the video game thing, which is ironic given my profession.

Thanks for the tip, Jesse! Also, I enjoyed your talk on Thursday. I'll be sure to thank you if I take over the world nod[1].gif

Did any of you from here nab this? I stopped by and it was gone. If it doesn't fit you, PM me and we can work something out. I'm having a real hard time finding 38R/L conservative business staples.

Thanks for the tip. I think they were marked 9 but I couldn't really read it. I decided $18 wasn't worth the risk tonight.

I think they were all labeled NES-001. The one that sold for $13K was a completely sealed special edition of something. A similar set to mine (slightly better condition only because more things were in plastic) just sold on eBay for over $200. I will be holding onto it in case the interest spikes like it did for arcade games, etc.
