Just about had a heart attack with this guy. Ralph Lauren Purple Label French cuff in a 16.5. No retailers within a couple hundred miles of me stock RLPL, I hadn't been holding out much hope of finding them. This shirt is completely pristine, absolutely no signs of wear, I wish so badly that it would fit.

Also picked up my first Etro, wacky as hell but kind of cool. Size 42

Passed up a Corneliani shirt - very recent, had those wrinkles from bad starching/ironing. Do those come out? Also left a white Pal Zileri shirt and a cool BD Baggies oxford that were the victims of neck sweat stains.

I may have wasted money on this one. I thought I'd read somewhere about the (Polo - not Polo Jeans) flag sweaters being rather valuable. Good call?

WTF, you just blew up one of the best unknown thrifting spots around. Now hmmurdock's basement is just going to be flipper central. THANKS, ASS.

I've come to the conclusion don't go through my thrift purchases quickly enough to either sell or trade and soon forget I bought them. Case in point...went down to the basement to check some potential inventory for trade. Found a NWOT Brooks Brothers khaki car coat (size L and quite available) I now recall buying sometime last year and a bunch of pants in my size that I must have set aside to get to the tailor and drycleaner. Legit stuff - 3 pairs of PRL made in italy, flat front zanellas, Canalis and a pair of Brionis. Best find of the night was a J Press Presidential Line Donegal Mist tweed which was buried under the pants. Tried it on...way too big on me. Probably a 42 or 44.
I feel like I just went on a thrift run in my own house. That cannot be good.

Maybe I'm just obsessive...but as soon as I get home, I put everything into my excel spreadsheet with description/cost/size/measurements. Easy way to remember what you have before it gets lost under piles of other clothes

Not obsessive...but clearly not a guy with a two year old running around his house.

No chance...I've got that place on lockdown. Literally. :hide:

At one store I go to it is not uncommon to see brand new BMWs, Audis, Mercedes, Lexus', etc there. Thing is, it's a stand-alone parking lot just for the GW. They shop there and suck up a lot of the designer clothes. One day a lady gasped and quickly snatched three Armani Collezioni shirts off a "new arrivals" rack. Didn't think anything of it, really. Nothing I would have grabbed. She was behind me in the checkout line. This was the day I bought the paintings I mentioned several pages back so I was trying to carefully arrange them in the back of the car so the frames wouldn't scratch each-other. As I was doing so, I noticed her get into the brand spankin new BMW X5 M parked next to me. A damn SUV that costs as much as the house a friend of mine just purchased. :brick:

I had the good fortune of being given a Boxster to drive for a couple of months last fall. The first day back in the Buick, I was heckled by the recovering drunks hanging out in the parking lot, smoking cigarettes (the rehab center is also on the premises): "Where's the Porsche?" they shouted, among other things. I think I was wearing an Oxxford suit that day, which didn't help matters. Sally drunks knowing what car you drive--maybe that's God's way of telling me I go to thrift stores too much.

Just go to San Diego. I see Veryron's weekly when I'm out that way. I joke with my step-father about the AMG Mercedes, as they dont seem to make any in SD that are not AMG. CL63 this and SL65 that. It's kind of funny. A couple of pictures from my OLD job (which I miss). Last one is my fav!
:inlove: :inlove: Wow, would LOVE to see a Saleen S7 in person! I've only ever seen Ferrari's, Aston Martin's, Bentleys...etc. But never a Saleen! Saw a Veyron 1 time... at the Denver Auto Show... behind a velvet rope.... Curses!!!

Recent Brioni suit (yes, I know, the lapels need to be repressed pretty badly) - it's black, but a more matte/flannelly finish than my older black suit, which was very shiny and slick. Sadly, I'll probably have occasion to wear it more than I'd care to before the year is out. This thing is awesome, though. Lapels need to be re-pressed BADLY, did I mention that? The prior owner obviously kept it put away for the most part.

Oxxford grey herringbone Super 100's suit, paper label, dated late 1999 and early 2000 - probably measurement date and then production or delivery date? Gotten heavy use out of this one already. :slayer:

Score! I think it was you that sold me that very recent (dated 2008) Oxxford that originated from that same shop in Pittsburgh.

We can't all be that lucky to drive a Scirocco. It used to give me wet dreams when I was young. Some of us may be driving beamers you know even if not spanking new. As a poor substitute. :embar:

Speaking of the Scirocco, she may come out of hibernation next week. Forecast is saying upper 60's to 70's for late next week. Got tabs today. :D

Anyone ever see that SNL episode where Jay Mohr imitates Christopher Walken and asks why people aren't calling into the show?

[In his best Chris Walken:] ocooney: Why aren't you PMing? I saw your post about the trousers. They were really nice. I'd love to trade. I PMed you. But you're not PMing. Why aren't you PMing?

(Maybe it's not as funny to other people, but I was laughing ****** off thinking about it.)

No thrift finds today, unfortunately, but I did have one find in consignment, and I do have
Luciano Barbera Collezionie Sartoriale (made by St. Andrews with the labels to match) - there were several of these, all size 46-48. I should point out that not all had the St. Andrews tag, so some might have been by Attolini or Partenopea... I bought this one based on fit - this was the largest, most were more like a 46, so if any of you gents are inclined to like this kind of thing, feel free to PM me for a proxy - this is consignment, but the prices are fair IMO. All basically NWOT - one even had the tags in the pocket IIRC.
This one is 15% cashmere, 15% baby camel hair (wtf?) and 70% wool... it reminds me of nothing so much as a new-school take on an old-style Brooks Brothers tweed jacket.

Oh... and it came with the Barbera hanger

Wow... That jacket is AWESOME.

This one is a recent find off Yoox - a couple of gents tipped me to this one, thank you kindly, Achilles & Klobber! It was $154 shipped, I was hoping it was Sartoria Parma from the Yoox label, but it's just Caruso mainline. Still, thankful it was NWT because the tags confirmed that it is in fact a sport coat. This SC is the reason I'm in the market for a Raffaele Caruso hanger.

Nice find! If y'all see anything in a 40-42, especially lighter spring / summer blazers I'd love to see them. I was about to buy a nice Lubiam white w/ blue check cotton blazer off B&S but the sleeves were just too short and not enough material to extend. I've been trying Yoox but I find it very hard to use.

Finally, these two suits came from a member on this thread who will remain nameless to avoid flooding him with PM's! He was kind enough to do cost+shipping+gas on these two suits, both of which fit me spot on and are already anchors in my closet! Still looking out for any way to return the favor... thank you again, member-to-remain-nameless!

Too many PMs, too little time perhaps. I wish those pants were a size larger. But of course I do not need them.

so I don't read the thread last night and this is what happens :X just so happens im a 36x32. YES PLEASE ......reading past few pages to see if they are still avail...

Did anyone say pants?
My first Kiton
And 6x Barbera, 2x Incotex and Filson.
Left behind Oxxford for Andover shop pants that appeared to be orphaned.
They are all 36x32. I'd have to lose about 20 lbs to fit comfortably, so I'm open to offers and would prefer to move as a lot.
More pics to come.

This makes me want to get more into the trading scene. Those suits look awesome.

As for my recent activity, I will have to post my suit find of a lifetime. I never in a million years expected to come across a $2,000+ suit that is actually recent... and in MY SIZE!! I'm super pumped about it, and will post pictures at some point because I really want to figure out exactly how recent it is.

Lol, This happens to me quite often, but I compare it to finding a $20 bill in a pair of pants I haven't worn for a year.
