While on the topic of art, I think I forgot to brag about these beautiful paintings I picked up a few months ago at the local GW for peanuts ($9.99 and $6.99 respectively). Custom framed (really well done). Hand painted oil-on-canvas Monet reproductions. Even though they are reproductions, they still cost quite a bit at retail and even resale (I'd imagine it takes a good amount of talent to reproduce a masterpiece by hand). Two have already found homes on our walls. I'm trying to figure out a spot for the other two. The wife hates the flower painting (go figure), but I like it so I'm going to try and stick it somewhere. Not even sure if that's a Monet repro as it doesn't have his signature as the other's do in the bottom corner but obviously came from the same previous owner.

today was.. interesting.
first up, this w&g shirt. ripped through the coats to no avail... and in the back I see a sign up that says STORE: WINTER COATS (MENS & WOMENS) :fu:

that ripping through DID yield this Bogner ski jacket, though... I picked it up based on its looking like quality - ebay mobile wasn't giving me very relevant results. it's a men's 44. I think I've seen someone mention these before, though, so I went ahead and picked it up - did I do good? ^^;;

Nice!! Beck would go bananas over that Bogner (one of his favorite labels).

Nice frames would induce me to pick up Monet reproductions, too. Really want them (love his work), but always in an unusable frame. #firstworldthriftingproblems

Mr. Smith in the thrift thread :stirpot:

Hey, my brother, I read this thread every day. I rarely post because my finds have not been interesting.

Haha, actually had no clue what it was until I Googled it. It actually looks quite intriguing but not sure I could figure it out as the last video game system I got into was the Nintendo 64. :laugh:

LOL, Portal 1 was an uber-creative, awesome geek-cult-touchstone game - even today you see little hints to it in other stuff. Portal 2 came out last year to pretty high acclaim.

Put it this way - for modern gamers/developers, not having played Portal 1 is considered a serious gap or omission in understanding game theory and development, to say nothing of playstyles and mechanics - of course, not all that relevant to the run-n-shoot-guns games that are popular at the moment, but still. ^^;

Duffle Coat for J. Crew. I assumed it was by Gloverall, but there is no Gloverall label, so I am only 99% sure. Based on quality of construction alone, there is little doubt.

Size Large.

Really nice coat. I'd bet, though, that it's likely not a Gloverall if there's no indication on the label. All the Gloverall for J. Crew coats I've seen (online) are clearly branded "Gloverall." Just my two cents though.

I actually found a made in England Gloverall duffle coat recently that felt surprisingly poor quality (I left it). I had a similar experience a while back with a women's Gloverall pea coat I came across that was surprisingly unremarkable. Because my vintage Gloverall duffle, bought on eBay, is so outstanding, I assumed all Gloverall would be on a similar level, but apparently not.

Grabbed my stash from today out of the car and realized I'd forgotten to mention: Ivory/beige polo by Dunhill, made in Italy (read once their Made in Italy stuff was made by Zegna, but that may just be their suits/SCs) size XL and probably available. And an orange/salmon polo by Loro Piana, tagged size 12, so I suspect it's for the ladies, but sometimes those high end folks do funny stuff with sizing. PM for deets.
