You're going to want as much Yves St. Laurent, Lavin (make sure it's the USA-made polyester stuff, not the weird French made stuff), and Ralph Lauren GREEN label (it's like the Johnny Walker blue label of clothes) stuff as you can get your hands on.

I'm jk bro.  Just read the last few hundred pages of the thread for examples of good stuff, and go from there.

Guys are turning up some awesome finds (suited finding a rack of my his size shoes ), but I'm still happy with my finds this week.

Teller Cashmere coat that fits me like it was made for me, so unavailable.

1000

1000

Ferragamo horse-bit loafers, which again fit me so unavailable

1000

Zegna soft shirt on clearance

1000

Maus and Hoffman plaid flannel (not sure if I'm keeping this one yet)

1000

For the ladies, a NWT Obermeyer ski suit.

1000

1000

And this mint condition, yet 40 year old, Harris Tweed overcoat. It's only been worm twice, and I know this because my FiL from Cali brought it with him at Thanksgiving, so even better than a thrift find.

1000

1000

Passed on some ugly clunky Prada penny loafers and some over-priced Etro and Prada shirts that I think someone else 'round these parts is hankering after.

And mine came back from the dry cleaners clean as a whistle and NOT pressed flat as a pancake. Unfortunately, I'd already sold it on B&S for half price due to the stain. ffffuuuu.gif

The bad news is everything looks real good except some big sweat stains in the jacket (as you can kind of see in the label picture) and a couple little holes in the lining in the same location. How do I clean this?
Dunno. I've been really, really gunshy to get aggressive about cleaning the lining on suits. Usually its the trou lining that needs special attention. So I have no suggestions for you.
But I will say: That suit's a thing of beauty. If you can't live with that staining, I could.

Maybe, but I occasionally pick it up for myself. I actually like the way their shirts fit and if the price is right, I grab them for myself.

I went to my wife's goddaughter's baptism today, so a quick fit pic. I was rushing out the door and it's similar to previous posts, but I got to try out one of my Borsalinos. I had four separate people touch the collar of the coat and 2 references to The Godfather. Oh, and a pile of criticism from my wife's family for just about everything that we do, but that's normal, right?? nod[1].gif

Chaps, Oscar De La Renta, list could go on.

Realistically:

Grail - Kiton, Hermes, Attolini, .Rubinacci, Tom Ford, Stefano Ricci, Lobbs, Edward Green, Saville Row bespoke stuff of recent vintage .......

Excellent - High end fashion brands of recent vintage (Dior, Bottega Venetia, Lanvin being 3 standouts). Zegna Couture, Ralph Lauren Purple Label, Borrelli, Brunello Cucinelli and a few others....

Good - Most familiar fashion brands, Brioni, Zegna Mainline, Ralph Lauren Black Label, Luciano Barbera, Isaia etc.....

Average - Oxxford (recent only), RRL, Brooks Brothers Golden Fleece, Ralph Lauren Polo made in Italy, Canali, Skeet Blankets etc...............

Barely Pickable - Brooks Brothers 1818, Paul Stuart, Hickey Freeman, Hugo Boss (suits or jackets) etc..............

If a fellow picks for himself, then everything is fair game since it is a personal thing. For flipping or trades, I would only pick Good to Grail.

Fine, you want a real list then. Kiton, Brioni, and Isaia. Never buy anything but those three, and I guarantee that you will never be disappointed with your purchase.

Geez, has anyone even found Tom Ford stuff at a thrift store yet?

Been finding first-for-me labels all week, really fun out there (and damaging to my bank account). Including this vintage Chester Barrie. Unavailable.

I would say your excellent stuff is considered grail status to most lol. I've found Kiton, Hermes, Greens and Row, but never Dior, Lanvin.

Finals and research papers have kept me away from thrifting, but eBay has been good lately:

^^I like these, and not just because they say Ferragamo on them. I have a pair that I received in a trade from Grendel and they are by far my favorite casual shoe. That Harris Tweed is awesome as well.

And Bolded: who dis be?? peepwall[1].gif
