Sad news, that Oxxford suit I lifted for $4.00 couldn't be forced onto my frame, and I'm out $90 on tailoring.  Guess I'll just have to get some accurate measurements, put it on the block, and hope I break even.  Lesson learned about looking harder for the tags first!  =(

Trying to stay consistent on my stops. Learning a few tricks so it doesn't take me forever to go through things. Found this ladies Tag Watch that I quickly placed on eBay. Paid thrift prices. Interested to see how we'll it does.

Damn my link didn't work. Sorry folks

Gray pents, no brand, had a uniform rental sticker on them, used to belong to a "Frank".  Any guess as to the material?

Short trench, brand any good?

Suit, surprisingly fits me ok , being 6'1" with a 33" chest.  Can't find much about Cricketeer, it is a bluish-gray color.

The best part, had never felt such a nice tie prior to this.

I was really hoping for some shoes, saw a pair of burgundy Sears longwings that looked nice, (double?) leather sole.  Not sure how I feel about gunboats, should I go back and get them?  As far as flipping, saw some AE loafers, worth it?  Any money is good for a college kid

That is a nice tie! The pants and trench...meh. Where are you that you're thrifting suits from Hornes? Cricketeer was a nice, reliable, mostly trad brand from the '60s, '70s and into the '80s.

Good to know there are others like me :) congratulations on your first go out. You'll get nothing but better from here on out.

Pants are probably polyester and not worth much.

Cricketeer... dont know much about them either. I've come across their stuff a few times, never was too impressed.

I believe Boston Harbor is on about the same level as London Fog. They make okay quality stuff, but not brilliant.

The Zegna tie is a Zegna tie :) good find!

With the exception of the tie (Nat correct me if I'm wrong on vintage Sears stuff), you should leave all that stuff at the store.

Are you new at this? Not intending to offend, but everyone goes through a period at the beginning where they think they should just grab everything. At this point, better to put back anything you're unsure of, learn how to recognize quality over brands (please read Oregotrix's blog about this) and pay attention to what people in this thread talk about.

Made my first stop in a long time after dropping some stuff off to the tailor tonight. They look a little rough but thought they might be worth the risk so I'm cleaning up my first pair of Aldens right now:

model 932 size 9 B/D

Also grabbed a navy pinstripe John Varvatos Star USA suit.

Haven't found anything nice in a while so what's better to cure the not-finding-jack-shit-dry-spell-blues? Why, thrift fit, of course!

SC: Sammy, my very first jacket ever thrifted. I shorted it about 1.25 inches.

Shirt: MTM shirt by a local tailor. Paid full price.

Tie: Silk but not worth mentioning the make. Thrifted by me.

SC: Silk no name. Thrifted by me.

Jeans: LVC 501 rough raise selvedge. Bought on major discount.

Boots: Eastland heavy duty. Bought on Ebay with discounted offer.

So almost didn't get out today. So glad I went with the "well I'm up, I might as well get out" state of mind.

Started the day off right:

Cool North Face outerwear. Steep Tech designed by Scot Schmidt

First pocket squares found. Ever. In 10+ years, these are literally the first pocket squares I've ever found. Scoured the women's scarves all the time and nothing. These were hung on pants hangers and destined for the linens section! They must have thought they were nice napkins! laugh.gif They are all NWOT.

The day just gets better:

Looks like someone used another stupid plastic hang-tag here at some point. ffffuuuu.gif

And the pièce de résistance. First picture is awful. Tried a few times and comes out the same. I've come to the conclusion that I need a new camera.

Pretty recent. Super 120s fabric.
