re abovethread discussion: I am now a lawyer, I used to be a journalist, and I have good friends on both sides of the discussion - so as a neutral party with one foot in both camps, I declare IT ALL GOOD and rainbows and puppies and kittens rained down!
for serious though, two stores, only one gave up anything... but I left a trashed Brioni for NM shirt (to the point the collar was coming off) and a Rubinacci shirt with a strange black label that just said Rubinacci - fake? weird diffusion line? either way, not messing with it. There were also about six JAB Sig Gold suits, super-recent, awesome fabrics... and no pants. -_- So I figure I probably missed some good stuff... ah, well.
DID turn up a few things that I'm pretty sure the other guy missed... experience pays off, as detailed below!
Found this in the back of a ladies' belt rack - sometimes the workers are lazy and put scarves there instead of in the, you know, SCARF SECTION... didn't pick this up for flipping, picked it up for the moral victory!

J. Crew 100% cashmere one size scarf. Mght make a good Christmas present if anyone's got a cousin or something that could use it, I'll let the thread have it for a small trade or cost+ship.

Ties... this store has a huge mess of ties and NEVER NEVER NEVER produces ANYTHING. Not because flippers are taking it, because there's a program where businesspeople come in and pick ties to give people as interview ties... and they generally are running pretty low on stock, so most ties, even crappy ones, go to that. Seriously, the last good tie find I had there was in JULY 2010.
Today, though: bing! The T&A is available, it's nice and slim, the Hermes is... probably also available, though it might be nice for me to wear since it has an owl motif.

Finally... I knew I had to flip the store, so I did - and found this with a folded-up tag. That's where experience comes in - I knew that this tag style tends to fold and do weird things on their sweaters/polos and so on. It also helps that I've handled enough LB to recognize the tag upside down and inside out...

Best part? It's my size! Has a couple of holes that need darning, but shit, I don't mind that! For those of you who are new - I'm one of the least condition-picky people here, so if you find something awesome and think it's too far gone, feel free to drop me a line and I'll consider it when most wouldn't.
Interestingly - some of you may remember the RLPL navy cashmere shawl-collar I found a long time ago - probably my greatest sweater find ever - it's in Spoo's closet now - well, it came from the same store, and I haven't found another sweater at that store since!
All in all, I think I salvaged a pretty good day out of what I was sure would be a wasted trip. Of course, I went on to the next store all pumped and walked out of there with nothing. Reality set back in...
