Had some decent finds today. All are available.
Polo RL blackwatch plaid duffle coat. Wool/Nylon blend. Sz L. Wood toggles. Removable throat latch. Polo RL label removed but the blue fabric content and size tag are definitely Polo.

Polo RL and Trafalgar Braces. All are Polo except the burgundy one which is Trafalgar.

Isaia dress shirt. 15 1/2 x 35. French cuffs.

Super recent Canali lavender stripe dress shirt. Mint. Single button cuffs. 16 1/2 x 36

Not pictured are a pair of mint RM Williams black chelsea (ankle) boots (8 1/2. Worn very little, mint) and a pair of genuine crocodile Giorgio Brutini Handcrafted loafers.

I'm absolutely loving the Braces. fistbump.gif

hmm. looks like you're right, but for the wrong reason. the 54023 RN number was in use during the "old" era:

however, SWB's particular tag is from the early 90's:

The Adventure Globe Tag
The next tag represents a move to change the focus of BR to travel clothing, though it does retain mention of Safari. This is likely from the early 90s when BR still had a retro flair to their clothing and you would still find some items that were very similar to the classic BR stuff.

I was digging my doomsday shelter. LOL, that was one of the small disasters involved with our renovation. The borough required that we moved our water meter out to the curb in manhole. So they came and put the manhole in....3 feet below grade....and left it the way you see it for months. They said they didn't have any taller manholes. It was constantly filled with water or ice. I had to rig up my own extension to bring it up to ground level, for which I got reprimanded by the borough.

Actually, my photos aren't much different. I have a job. And a wife. And a life. I don't have the space or time to set up a fashion photo-shoot studio--I already spend enough time on this thread. And so put stuff on the kitchen counter or the pool table or the mannequin in the spare bedroom with the creepy Bozo The Clown head on the dresser in the background. Yeah this guy could've taken more pictures, but it did sell in the end.

I see this old stuff more than occasionally, I think the old people in New England who bought this stuff in the early BR days are dying off. Is it really worth a try? I don't like any of it myself, and I kinda have this personal rule: Unless it's sure-fire money on eBay (i.e. I've been bagging weird wool patterns Corneliani & Polo & Zegna coats in huge sizes lately like 60+ Italian, but even if they were my size I wouldn't be caught dead in them) I may end up owning a piece, so I don't buy anything I wouldn't wear myself.

But back to BR...is anyone making anything flipping or doing OK trading for vintage BR? OR is it just a well-made vintage garment that some of us enjoy (it takes all types to make a thrift thread thrive, I ain't judging anyone)???

(PS whoever called the new stuff "Gap Eurotrash" or something like it...icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif nice. I got into new BR early in my SF days I guess just to fill up my closet with semi non-shit...they have great clearance racks and coupon sauce where you can get stuff 80 and 90% off....but as I found and traded for upgrades...I gave it away...I think I have two shirt left because they are the right colors for certain outfits and that's it.)

I'm not sure what others' experiences are but I flipped a new Modern Cut BR suit for the same price as a really nice XL (approx. size 54) Canali suit (around the $100 mark). Sad really, but that's where the money might be.

On another note, I contacted a local fashion blogger who does pop ups to see if I could join her and her partner. It was an interesting conversation: she did menswear too, she said, but hers was all "curated" and she wasn't sure if the fit was right.

+1, the recent crap does ok...sort of a conservative skeet blanket. It is sad, but the name carries the value to the unknowing buyers.

Thrifting story:

I was in one of the local SA this week, looking through the SC for cool tweeds. This couple walked past me browsing.

The woman grabbed a jacket and said "Oh my God!...look at this honey!"

I was thinking to myself, "Damn, what did I just miss out on?"

The woman continued, "Look it's an Evan Picone! For only $10, Can you believe it? Ten Dollars!"

The bought it....lol

I though that was funny. I live in a tiny 1950s apartment and can at least put a sheet on a wall or shoot pictures against a door.
