also: klobber described faconnable shirts as basically the poor man's etro. i think that's pretty accurate.
Recent, exciting color Faconnable shirts with pearl buttons (some are made in Italy) can fetch as much as $20 on Ebay. But I agree re: personal use; my rule for personal consumption is that if it fits me and I like it (which includes quality and construction), I wear it. The only two people who will ever see the label are me and my wife, and she already thinks I'm a moron (accurately, I might add).

Wow Wes, do you have your own Spoo type signal yet? If not, somebody get on that asap. Thanks for the info, I'm not sure how you managed to spot the "Handcrafted World Of Allen Edmonds" stamp. Is that just from handling so many pairs? It seems my eye is getting a little better too, in terms of dating used shoes that is. biggrin.gif

Wes needs a shoe shaped signal I think.

A little more on McAllister. They were an original model in 1956 and were in the rotation until 1959 with the catalog number 4473. They came back in in 1979 with the number 6271 until 1982. They switched numbers again in '83 and stayed that way til 1997. They have not been available since '97.

^^^^I'm sorry, I have to re-quote this, just fucking incredible. worship2.gif

Before that they had the logo with the elongated italicized A on the footbed. The early Handcrafted World of AE models still have the elongated A in the silk "window"...like yours.

Faconnable shirts I generally only get the ones with square labels (I think they're the nicer ones?). Anyways, they're good for $20-30 so just determine if that's worth your time and go from there.
